Kerry Katona has jetted off to Thailand with her daughter Heidi for a luxury break, but the former Atomic Kitten star admitted it had been a tough experience for her
Kerry Katona has been soaking up the sun in Thailand, dodging the dreary February weather back in the UK and sidestepping a single lady’s Valentine’s Day blues. The 44-year-old ex-Atomic Kitten star broke up with her beau Ryan Mahoney after a six-year romance last year, and she confessed that her first getaway post-split has had its moments.
The holiday comes after the star claimed she’d been offered a huge £1million to marry Peter Andre in the past.
Jetting off to a luxurious spot with her daughter Heidi, who’s set to turn 18 on February 20, Kerry hasn’t found her to be the dream travel buddy, spilling to OK!: “While this holiday is fantastic, I’m really looking forward to going home. I love my home comforts and I miss the other kids. When I go away, I end up missing them so much – much more than they miss me! I’ve been FaceTiming DJ since I got here and have been in constant contact with all my kids.”
Kerry remarked that it’s tough trotting the globe with a teenager, revealing that Heidi, whose dad is ex-husband Mark Croft, isn’t all that into quality time with mum, lamenting: “As much as I love being away with Heidi, it is tough with teenagers and I’m missing having a partner to share this holiday with. Heidi doesn’t want to do any activities with me – she would rather stay in the hotel – and she’s a typical teenager where everything I say is wrong, so that’s not easy.”
Kerry has confessed that she recently had a teary moment when her anxiety got the better of her. “I found myself bursting into tears the other day because I became anxious and it built up,” reports the Mirror.
“Being away for the first time without Ryan is difficult. I’m OK on my own but I like having that bond with someone.”
Before jetting off for some quality time with her daughter, Kerry let slip she was toying with the idea of entering the dating scene again after calling it quits with her ex-fiancé Ryan in November. The mother-of-five admitted she’s been on the lookout to join the exclusive Raya app but chose to concentrate on taking care of herself, especially with Valentine’s Day around the corner.
“I’m quite glad I’ll be away on holiday for it since it’s my first one single in a long time,” she confided, continuing on to say, “I’ll get the kids a card and maybe one for myself because I need a bit of self-love. I have actually been trying to get on the Raya app to dip my toe in the dating pond, but I’m not on it yet. I don’t think I’d like to do the other apps again.”
Then, on the morning of Valentine’s Day, Kerry made a humorous revelation about her love life to her 852K Instagram followers. From her hotel pool, she quipped: “Yes I am in a relationship. It is extremely serious… how do I say this? It’s with myself. And I plan on staying single for a very, very, very, very, very, very long time.”
