Kim Sae-Ron, star of the Netflix series Bloodhounds, has sadly passed away at the age of 24. The actress was found dead at her home and police have now confirmed her cause of death
The showbiz world is in mourning following the sudden death of actress Kim Sae-Ron, who was found dead at her home at just 24-years-old. Kim shot to fame through the Netflix original series Bloodhounds and was recognised as a rising star.
She was tragically discovered by a friend last Sunday, who then alerted the police. Kim Sae-ron began her acting journey at the young age of nine, featuring in numerous films and TV shows.
Her big break came as a child actress with the release of the 2009 film A Brand New Life and The Man From Nowhere in 2010. As she grew older, the South Korean star landed leading roles in the 2014 film A Girl At My Door and the 2011 TV series Listen To My Heart.

In 2016, she took on her first major adult role in the TV drama Secret Healer and joined YG Entertainment that same year. Later credits include the 2018 thriller The Villagers and the university web series Love Playlist before moving to Gold Medalist agency alongside renowned actors Kim Soo-hyun and Seo Yea-ji in 2020.
Sadly, Kim’s promising career hit a snag following a DUI incident in 2022, which resulted in a hefty fine of around £11,000 and difficulties landing future acting roles, reports the Mirror US.
Following the tragic death of Kim Sae-Ron, police have confirmed they are treating the investigation as a suicide case. The authorities stated: “We believe she made an extreme choice and plan to handle it as a suicide,” as reported by Yonhap News Agency.
In 2022, Kim landed a role in the SBS drama Trolley, but she left the project just a few months later due to a drink-driving scandal. Accusations of drunk driving were levelled at her, leading her representatives to issue an apology: “Kim Sae-ron is deeply reflecting on her apparent mistake. The damage caused by the crash is being compensated as much as possible.She then turned to Instagram with a remorse-filled handwritten message stating: “
She then took to Instagram with a heartfelt handwritten message saying: “First, I am sorry to inform you of the position after arranging the accident and damage situation. Yesterday May 18, 2022 around 8am in Gangnam, I had an accident that damaged public property. I made a big mistake while drinking.”
Kim added: “I caused damage to so many people, including merchants, citizens, and those who restored it. I should have acted more carefully and responsibly, but I couldn’t. I sincerely apologize. We are working out the damage caused by the accident together with the company. I will do my best to communicate and actively resolve the matter until the end. I am very sorry to my fellow actors and staff as well as the production team for disrupting the production of the work that was being filmed and prepared.”
The celeb’s regret was palpable as they uttered: “Once again, we deeply apologize and apologize for causing concern. There is no excuse for this unfortunate incident. I am disappointed and very ashamed of the mistakes I have made.”
Following the blunder, the Seoul Central District Court slapped her with a hefty fine in 2023, demanding she cough up $20 million – that’s around £11,000. Despite the ruling, she later begged for leniency, pleading financial woes as the culprit.
