EastEnders Martin Fowler exit ‘sealed’ as fans spot devastating death clues

EastEnders fans are convinced they’ve spotted a clue that confirms the death of a major character as the BBC soap’s 40th anniversary celebrations continue

EastEnders fans are on the edge of their seats over Martin Fowler’s fate after spotting a new hint.

The iconic Queen Vic was engulfed in flames earlier this week and while it remains a mystery who will perish and how many will fall victim, there’s growing concern that Martin might be the one to face a fiery exit.

Fans are piecing together clues that suggest Martin, portrayed by James Bye, could be written out in a tragic inferno storyline. Born the same year EastEnders first aired, Martin’s fate seems intertwined with the soap’s history.

One eagle-eyed viewer pointed out eerie parallels between past and present episodes, tweeting: “Oh I don’t like this… 1/3/2001 – Jamie up a ladder putting up wedding decorations. 17/2/2025 – Martin up a ladder putting up wedding decorations. Anyhow Reiss mows Martin down with that clapped out Volvo (mirroring Martin running over Jamie), I’ll be DEVASTATED. #EastEnders.”

The sight of Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) dressed in black also set alarm bells ringing for fans, with one commenting: “People wearing black… Stacey, Sharon… there’s something in that,” and another noting: “The fact that he’s standing out in his bright suit doesn’t bode well.”, reports the Mirror.

Stacey is tipped to have a significant part in the show’s 40th-anniversary celebrations, but could this spell the end for Martin?

She shared her excitement, saying: “I’m really excited. I am a big EastEnders fan and have grown up watching it. To see it hit 40 years is epic. I did the 25th but I think I might have missed one of the anniversaries, so I am very happy to not miss this one.”

The upcoming live episode has been highly anticipated by fans, with even the show’s stars expressing excitement for the unique experience. “I really enjoy taking part in the live episodes which is weird because anything live would normally scare the life out of me. You get such an adrenaline rush from it. Hopefully this one will go as smoothly for me!”.

Meanwhile, Chris Clenshaw heaped praise on the soap as he prepares his exit after the 40th anniversary celebrations, telling Radio Times: “It belongs to the audience. From episode one, it’s been about a community looking out for each other and on top of that, there have been those stories that pack a punch like Who Killed Reg Cox? Which is a story we’d play today.

‘Balance is the key, between what’s exciting and social realism. You can have a storyline like Lola’s, which was about a young mother facing terminal cancer. And in another part of the forest, you’ve got the high-concept camp of ‘The Six’ a murder mystery with six iconic matriarchs.”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6am
