One Dancing on Ice star was given some very sad news before their first time on the ITV show.

Molly Lanaghan may be showing Corrie’s Sam Aston the ropes on the rink, but it’s the Weatherfield favourite who’s been her rock since she landed back in Blighty. The 25 year old dancer recently ended a seven-year romance and jetted from Canada to Doncaster, her birthplace, for a new chapter with ITV.

“In October when training for the series started, I moved back,” Molly told The Mirror, adding, “It’s nice to be back home.”

She traded the Canadian National Skating Championships for a spin on Dancing on Ice, teaming up with telly star Sam. While rebooting her life in Doncaster Molly gushed about how Sam, his missus Briony and their trio of tots have made her feel right at home.

“I met Sam’s wife and kids. They’re lovely,” she beamed. “We’ve had Sunday dinners together and I also met some of his siblings. He is one of nine – he has a big family!”

The ITV contest has been a welcome distraction for Molly, who parted ways with her beau and skating sidekick Dmitre Razgulajevs last January: “My last relationship was with my last skating partner. That was a long seven-year relationship and when we finished skating together, we ended our relationship,” reports the Mirror.

Now single, Molly’s all about seizing the day on the show: “I’m out of that and now in the show – I just wanted to focus on it and live in the moment. I’m really lucky that I can focus on myself right now.”

Molly’s a romantic at heart, confessing that she’s “always” on the lookout for love: “I’m a lover!” The ice queen made bold statement to kick start her journey, opting to dye her locks a permanent shade of pink after flirting with the hue previously.

“I’ve always been a pink sparkly girly-girl and I dyed my hair pink during competition off-season,” Molly shared. When it came to joining Dancing on Ice, the producers were all for her vibrant look: “When I was talking to Dancing on Ice producers about joining the show, I had blonde hair and they said, ‘Would you be interested in going back to pink hair?”

“I was like, ‘Of course, I love my pink!’ I find it so fun.”
