Kelly Brook has revealed that she’s “lost friends” after making a big choice about her future, which the Heart Radio host admits has made it “difficult” to relate to some of her pals
Kelly Brook has confessed she has “lost friends”.
After choosing to go child-free with her husband, Brook has realised that she has “lost” a number of her closest gal pals due to the fact that their lives have taken totally different paths.
Kelly told Prima magazine: “The most difficult thing for me not having children over the last 20 years has been losing friends because your lives are so different. It’s sad in a way. I miss a lot of my old friends who have kids.”
“To be honest, when I go for lunch and I’m watching them mother their children, I get a bit like: ‘I want the attention, you’re my friends.’ I don’t want to sit there watching people parent.”
Brook sadly experienced a miscarriage with ex-fiancé Thom Evans back in 2011. Kelly is now happily married to her husband Jeremy and the pair have decided against trying for a child.
On her choice to remain childfree, Kelly opened up to Prima magazine: “In my 20s and 30s, I had miscarriages and past relationships that took their toll on me, physically and emotionally. It affected my life, my career and how I looked at myself; it made me feel like a bit of a failure,” reports the Mirror.
Kelly said that the experience “made her judge her partners negatively” based on “how they responded to it” and explained: “I never had a really positive experience with pregnancies and trying for children.”
“I just got so sick of being asked about it. ‘We’re not having children’ kind of closes off this conversation. I think people are shocked you can be that blunt about it, but that’s where we’re at. And we’re not saying that having children is a bad thing.”
Brook said she “doesn’t think she’s alone” as “a lot of women” have reached out to her since speaking publicly about her decision. She appeared on Loose Women which sparked a number of viewers to send her messages: “‘I’m the same; thank you for talking about it and thank you for being honest about it.'”
Kelly also spoke to Prima about her body image and confessed that she “looks back on pictures of herself” when people would tell her she “was overweight and curvy,” even though she was “three stone lighter than she is now.” Brook said that the scrutiny she received was “bizarre” and that she “feels sorry for her younger self” as she “had no-one there to support her”.
