The actress has shared her next career move after announcing she was quitting the BBC soap earlier this month, after 11 years back in the role
EastEnders legend Natalie Cassidy has spilled the beans on her future plans after deciding to exit the renowned BBC drama. The 41- year-old actress, who made a comeback as Sonia Fowler 11 years ago, has decided it’s time to bid farewell to the role she first embraced in 1993, having left once before in 2007 with aspirations to explore “other stuff”.
Now, with her looming exit later this year, Natalie has opened up about wanting to dive into more presenting roles. Hot off the heels of hosting What’s The Big Deal? for rival network Channel 4, she dished the details on the Monday Mile podcast hosted by Olympic snowboarder Aimee Fuller.
She confessed: “I love acting but I do really like just being myself, I think possibly more so than the acting. I did Motherland a little while a go, which was fantastic, and I do love comedy so I would like to do more comedy at some point.”
But that’s not all — she revealed: “I do like being myself and I’ve done this show with Channel 4 called What’s The Big Deal?, and it’s a consumer show. So you know when you wake up in the middle of the night and buy a load of c***, there’s a lot of people who do this,” reports the Manchester Evening News.

“We looked at barefoot trainers, vegetable choppers, LED facemasks, it’s all things people think, ‘oo, there’s a bit of hype about it’ and buy it. There’s a load of families, Gogglebox style, who try out all of the products so you see them, and then I delve into the science of it.”
Natalie has dished out the details that her new show will have viewers sussing out if the hyped-up products are really worth their money, and if they actually do what they say on the tin. She’s hoping that it’ll be a hit with the audience.
She said: “It’s really fun. Everyone I have spoken to has said ‘oh, I’d like to know about that’ so fingers crossed it does well, but it’s a fun consumer show.”
What’s The Big Deal?, a four-episode series, will see Natalie getting stuck into products such as ice baths, pizza ovens, and teeth whiteners, with six families giving them a whirl before the experts weigh in. Chatting about the upcoming series, Natalie shared: “I am looking forward to getting to ask the questions we all want to know about must-have products.
“Like all of us, I love to try the latest things but as a busy mum what I really want to know is what lives up to the claims and what is the best deal?” The telly star’s expecting the show will hit screens early March.
