The comedian would love to do the BBC show for “the outfits” but thinks he’d be too scared of the stairs each contestant has to walk down at the beginning of each episode
Tom Allen has turned down Strictly because he’s scared of stairs.
The comedian is convinced going down the famous steps on the show’s glitzy set would prove too difficult for him and he’d get injured before he even started his routine.
He told the Daily Star Sunday: “ Strictly was mentioned at one point. I’d love to do it for the outfits.
“But the thing is, I’d be too scared of the stairs they have to walk down at the beginning of each episode. I’d be worried that I’d fall down.
The stairs are so grand and they walk down them so quickly. And it’s all on live television.
I’d trip, I’d miss a step and fall over and roll onto the dance floor!”
Strictly’s execs have around four months to secure big-name stars for the next series after its hugely successful 20th anniversary series in late 2024 which saw blind comedian, Chris McCausland take the trophy alongside professional Dianne Buswell.
The 2025 series will start airing in September on BBC One.
Tom wants to focus on presenting jobs rather than competing on reality shows.
At the moment, as well as hosting The Apprentice spin-off, he also hosts Bake Off spin-off An Extra Slice.
He is also a frequent on guest panel shows including Richard Osman’s House of Games, QI, Hypothetical, Celebrity Catchphrase and The Crystal Maze.
Tom has also worked as an actor and had smaller roles in films such as Tamara Drew opposite Gemma Arterton and Starter for 10 alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and James Corden.
