Many of us grew up watching Bambi, but now the Disney character has been twisted beyond recognition in a new horror movie set on ruining your childhood forever
Bambi has been transformed into a bloodthirsty killer.
The trailer for Bambi: The Reckoning was recently released and horror fans can’t believe the gruesome scenes shown in the promotional clip. Based on the 1942 film of the same name, Bambi is the latest beloved childhood character to enter the Poohniverse.
The trailer shows a horrifying, blood-soaked deer with razor sharp teeth running through a forest and straight toward the camera. In another scene, a family drive along a badly-lit road as “Bambi” sprints out of the woods and roars before toppling the car over.
Bambi as a bloodthirsty beast then begins to terrorise the entire family as they cower in their house, brief flashes showing the beast’s disturbing teeth in the moonlight.
Bambi: The Reckoning is due to be released this summer and stars Roxanne McKee, Chrissie Wunna, Danielle Scott, Nicola Wright, Love Island’s Samira Mighty and Jas Rivers.
The trailer was posted on X/Twitter and received mixed reviews from confused horror fans. Someone asked: “Where’s Thumper and Flower?” while another person questioned: “We really living in the timeline where Bambi is horror now. What’s next, Cinderella slasher?”
“The obsession with taking beloved characters into horror movies is a little annoying, tbh. Just make a decent horror movie without the gimmick,” complained another film fan.
Another unimpressed critic branded the project “aggressively unnecessary” while someone else demanded: “Enough with the public domain horror movies.”
However, some people expressed their excitement for the flick: “I know this is going to be good,” typed one person with flame emojis, as another simply said the film looks “wild”.
A third person called the Bambi retelling “interesting” while a fourth wrote: “Looks great!”
