Scott Mills has issued a stern warning to the UK’s 2025 Eurovision Song Contest act, advising them to avoid the ‘bad influence’ of his colleague Rylan Clark, with whom he co-hosts the BBC’s Eurovision coverage.

On his BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, Scott chatted with girl band Remember Monday, who are hoping to bring home the coveted glass microphone trophy with their track What The Hell Just Happened?

This year’s content is set to take place in Basel, Switzerland, in May and Remember Monday – comprising of members Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele – will be aiming to outdo Olly Alexander’s 18th place finish last year with Dizzy.

Rylan is reportedly eager to meet the Eurovision hopefuls, as Scott relayed a message from the Dating Naked UK host. He said: “Our Rylan’s been on, ‘Tell them I can’t wait for a night out with the girls’.” This led to an excited reaction from the singers, but Scott had some words of caution.

“Look at me,” he said. “In the week of Eurovision, we can all have a night out before that. In the week of Eurovision, lock yourself in your room and if Rylan tries to contact you in any way, going, ‘Aw, let’s go on; let’s have one’, do not do that.

“Not one because I… let me tell you, from past experience, it doesn’t go well. And if I see you with him, I will be moving you away from him, alright?”

Remember Monday describe themselves as “pop girlies with a little bit of yeehaw”. They are the first girl band to represent the UK since 1999, when Precious – which featured ex-Atomic Kitten star Jenny Frost – finished 12th in that year’s contest.

They are also no strangers to the big time, having appeared in the eighth season of the The Voice in 2019 and opened up for Billy Joel at his 2023 British Summer Time festival show at Hyde Park.

What The Hell Just Happened? was co-written with the talents of Billen Ted, Thomas Stengaard and Julie ‘Kill J’ Aagaard.

Billen Ted, made up of Tom Hollings and Sam Brennan, have previously collaborated with big names such as Little Mix and Anne-Marie.

Meanwhile, Thomas Stengaard, who penned Denmark’s Eurovision 2013 winning song Only Teardrops, brings his competition-winning expertise to the table and pop artist Julie ‘Kill J’ Aagaard flaunts her multi-platinum songwriting talents.

In other news, Rylan is set to appear in the latest series of Doctor Who. He’ll take on the role of host for a fictional show similar to Eurovision, named the Interstellar Song Contest.

Rylan gushed about the opportunity, saying: “As a massive Whovian, getting the call to be in Doctor Who was a call I’ve always dreamed of getting. The episode is all my favourite things about the show with an added song contest set in space.

“It really is a dream come true. I can’t wait for everyone to see it. It is going to be out of this world.”
