Wendy Williams has been rushed to hospital.

The former talk show host, 60, was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia in May 2023. It’s the same tragic condition that actor Bruce Willis has been diagnosed with – the Die Hard star now struggles with speech because of it.

Williams has been living in an assisted living facility, with a court-appointed guardian taking control over her affairs. The former View presenter has been trying to end the guardianship.

According to Page Six, Wendy tossed a handwritten note out of the window from her fifth-story room at a New York City assisted living facility on Monday (March 10). The desperate message read: “Help! Wendy!!”

Police arrived at around 11.15am for a wellness check on the presenter, and photos showed her looking downbeat as she left the facility. She was wearing a T-shirt, black leggings and a long sweater as officers helped her into an ambulance.

According to the Daily Mail, the former talkshow host was being driven to Lenox Hill Hospital, where she’s set to undergo a cognitive evaluation to establish whether she’s well enough for her guardianship to come to an end.

According to family sources close to Williams, the hospitalisation is seen as a relief for the star. A source told Daily Mail: “The family has been waiting for today for many years.

“This is the beginning of the end of this nightmare. Wendy is so grateful for her family and friends who have fought so hard to put an end to all of this. Those who are responsible will be held accountable.”

Wendy has denied having been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, and last month TMZ reported she had formally requested a judge to terminate her guardianship. The star reportedly claimed she has “regained (the) capacity” to function without her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey.

On 18 February, Wendy was scheduled for a medical examination to reassess her health. Sources told TMZ if her request to end the guardianship was denied, she would “demand” a jury trial.

Wendy, who previously fired her court-appointed attorney, was scheduled to do a phone interview with ‘The View’ on 14 March. She did an emotional interview with ‘The Breakfast Club’ in January.

In it, she declared: “I am definitely isolated… I keep the door closed. I watch TV. I listen to the radio. I watch the window. I sit here, and my life goes by.”

Wendy also claimed she only had $15 to her name. Her niece, Alex Finnie, who was part of the conversation, said Wendy “sounds great” and not “like an incapacitated person”.

Wendy had largely remained out of the spotlight since leaving The Wendy Williams Show in 2021. Her guardianship and her health has since become a topic of frequent speculation.

She has, however, made public appearances in Florida for her son’s college graduation and her father’s birthday celebration.
