Model Christine McGuinness is reportedly feeling torn over whether or not to move out of the family home she shares with ex Paddy McGuinness and their three children
Christine McGuinness is thinking about moving out of her family home.
The former Miss Liverpool and ex Paddy McGuinness announced their separation back in June 2022 – and their divorce is now final. However, the pair have been living under the same roof at their Cheshire home and co-parenting their three children, despite the split.
Christine, who has been dealing with her mum’s cancer battle, is said to be unhappy with the current living situation and wants to sell up and move out of the family home, reportedly worth £2.5m. A court decided last year that they could keep the property if they both live there.
However, the decision has reportedly left Christine feeling torn on whether or not to move out. A source told the Mirror: “The whole living together, separating and living apart has been a tough journey for Christine. She’s been feeling conflicted because of the kids. She feels like she’s in a bit of a dilemma.”
Christine and Paddy are parents to three autistic children – twins Leo and Penelope, 11, and eight-year-old Felicity. They opened up about parenting their kids in their BBC documentary, Our Family and Autism, and Christine herself has now been diagnosed with autism.
The model is hesitant to move out of their home as their children don’t cope well with change. “As Christine has said herself, their children’s autism means they don’t generally cope well with change,” the source told the publication. “And that’s why she and Paddy have stayed living together for so long, despite living separate lives.
“Moving out won’t be an easy transition for the children and that’s why she’s been so cautious to do it. A part of her wonders if it would just be easier to carry on as they are, but she knows that now is the time. As much as it’s tough, the kids need a happy mum too.”
Christine recently told Daily Star how she’s ready to start a new chapter after her split from Paddy. She said: “For so many years, I was being a mum and a wife. I was staying at home all the time. But now, my divorce is complete and I’m dating again. I’m having fun.”
She continued: “This is the year when I’m going to go for it and take on more opportunities. In the past I’d get an opportunity and I’d say no before even considering it.
“But now I’ll look at it and see how much it will affect me mentally and physically. I’ve realised that these things are a bit of fun. It’s telly. So, why not? I like feeling more relaxed and open-minded when it comes to different opportunities.”
She added: “Anything that comes my way, whether it’s dancing in a music video or doing a documentary, I’m going to go for it. So long as I can work it around my children, I’m going to do it.”
The model also explained she and Paddy live separate lives. “People probably think that Paddy and I are sharing our lives. That’s not the case. Our time isn’t together. When Paddy is at home, I can go to work. And when I’m at home, he can go to work.”
“Every now and again, we’ll be there at the same time and we’ll have family days together and it’s lovely. But they’re few and far between.”
Paddy said living with his ex-wife “doesn’t feel tricky”. He said: “If I’m at home with the kids, it’s great. If I’m working and Christine is at home with the kids, that’s great. If we are there together, that’s fine. As long as my children are happy, that’s all that matters to me.”
