EXCLUSIVE: The Apprentice 2022 winner Harpreet Kaur has opened up about finding love on the BBC show as she got hitched to fellow candidate Akshay Thakrar last year
The Apprentice winner Harpreet Kaur talks finding love on the BBC show with her now husband two years on from her show glory.
Harpreet Kaur won the 2022 series and married her competitor Akshay Thakrar last year.
BBC contestants are banned from cosying up to one another one the show and are under a series of strict rules whilst living in the big shared house – so we asked the star if there were any rule breaks, including with her romance.
In collaboration with https://www.skyvegas.com/games/slots, Harpreet told us: “We were all a really well-behaved bunch.
“Since then, we’ve heard about people breaking the rules and getting up to no good, but in our year, we were all pretty sensible.
“Of course, I ended up marrying one of my competitors, but there was no romance in the house – between us or anyone else.”
As they approach their first wedding anniversary, the TV star also shared with the Mirror about having unexpectedly fallen for her now partner.
Harpreet told the publication: “I don’t think anybody goes into the Apprentice expecting to find a husband. I definitely didn’t. I wasn’t looking for love.”
“But then Akshay came along and swept me off my feet.
“We almost didn’t interact that much while we were in the house. But we had a really nice friendly connection and had that respect for each other.”
Harpreet also touched upon her relationship with with business mogul who crowned her champion of the show – but highlighted that he can certainly be “intimidating”.
She added: “Lord Sugar and I had a great relationship when we were in business together, and we parted ways on really good terms. I’m sure if I ever needed to, I could pick up the phone and he’d be there.
“He can definitely be intimidating, and if he likes you, you’ll be fine – but if he doesn’t, you’ll know about it. Personally, I never found him difficult or intimidating. At the end of the day, you can either take his comments personally and get offended, or you can take them on the chin and understand that it’s just his perspective. He’s looking for someone he can invest in, someone he clicks with. If you’re the type to get offended by every little thing he says, you won’t get far.
“He’s got a huge amount of experience and knows exactly what he wants. He’s very straight-talking and unapologetic, but why shouldn’t he be? He’s successful, and his focus is on getting things done. I never found that intimidating – we actually got on quite well.”
