Love Island’s Jack Fincham avoids prison after out-of-control dog mauled man

Jack Fincham, who shot to fame on Love Island in 2018, was handed six weeks in prison after his dangerously out-of-control dog, his black Cane Corso named Elvis, mauled a man

Jack Fincham has swerved jail by overturning his six-week prison sentence over his dog’s attacks.

The 33-year-old reality star, who won Love Island in 2018 with ex Dani Dyer, was sentenced to six weeks in prison in January after his dog mauled a runner and attacked a woman. Jack admitted to two counts of being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog after his Cane Corso, named Elvis, attacked Robert Sudell.

However, he was released on bail just hours later as he lodged an appeal – he was later seen celebrating with on-off girlfriend Chloe Brockett, who had been tearful during the initial sentencing. Fincham smiled and gave a thumbs up outside Basildon Crown Court on Friday (March 21) after winning the appeal.

He had his sentence removed and given a three-month suspended sentence added to his existing 18-month suspended sentence for a drug-driving offence given in March 2024. Last week, he was given a 12-week sentence suspended for 18 months after admitting drug driving, driving without due care and attention, driving without insurance and using false registration plates.

Fincham was sentenced after two separate attacks involving his huge dog. The first saw Elvis, a breed of mastiff, bite runner Robert in Swanley, Kent, in September 2022. He then attacked an unnamed woman in Grays, Essex, in June 2024 but luckily, she wasn’t injured.

As well as the initial six-week prison sentence handed to him at Southend Magistrates’ court in January, Jack was ordered to pay £3,860 to the courts. This included £200 in compensation to Robert, and £50 to another victim.

Jack’s dog Elvis attacked two people

Presiding magistrate Anne Wade said Fincham was subject to a suspended sentence at the time. She allowed Fincham to pay the total sum in £400 instalments every month as Fincham’s representative Richard Cooper said his client had “no savings” in his bank account.

The court heard that Jack did not comply with three rules relating to the dog’s ownership. They were to always have the dog on a lead, for it to wear a muzzle when outside, and to not leave it alone with anyone under the age of 16.

Fincham previously came under fire from fans due to his dog Elvis’ cropped ears. Ear cropping involves surgically altering a dog’s ears – a practice which is illegal in the UK and is considered to be painful and unnecessary.

The reality star was handed an 18-month suspended sentence after speeding his £50,000 car – a BMW 520D – down the hard shoulder of the A2 in Kent during a cocaine binge. He was stopped by police and later told court he was “driving angry” to see a friend who “was in a bad way” in August 2023.

It comes after Jack’s on-off girlfriend Chloe was reportedly taken to hospital after suffering an asthma attack. The TV personality is believed to have been dealing with poor health in the wake of Jack’s court case.

A source told The Sun: “Everyone knows about the stress of Jack’s court case but behind the scenes Chloe has been ill for months. She’s been cancelling work commitments and not seeing friends.

“Last night she had a bad turn and ended up in hospital with a severe asthma attack. She’s always had asthma but it’s usually under control then last night she was struggling to breathe.”

Fincham said he suffered one of his darkest moments while on a holiday with Chloe last year – jumping off a hotel balcony after believing he had lost all of his money during a gambling spree. He told The Sun: “We were in a hillside lodge and I jumped. If I’d have dived at a different angle, I may not be here today. That is scary

He said his addictions made him ‘feel like a failure’ and “destroyed everything”. He explained: “I feel like a failure, utterly mortified by the things I have done. I had the world at my feet and I screwed it up.

“Embarrassed just doesn’t touch it. It is hideous. I cry when I think about how I’ve let people down. I have blown more than a million pounds thanks to drugs, booze and gambling.”
