Gemma Collins loves spending spree at £1 shops but moans ‘not everything is a quid now’

National treasure Gemma Collins has shared her love of discount shops, and maintains that she’s ‘down to earth’ and a ‘Romford girl’ amid shopping at Savers and B&M

Gemma Collins has admitted she loves going on a spending spree at pound shops and discount stores.

The Only Way is Essex reality star is a millionaire but explained she’s still keen to bag a bargain where she can, frequenting discount shops. The 44-year-old has mentioned she’s a fan of B&M and Savers as well as the classic pound shop.

She told the Daily Star Sunday: “I like pound shops. I go to them all the time. They’re not as cheap as they used to be, which is annoying. Not everything is a pound now.

“I like B&M too and Savers is a good one. I like a bargain. The GC is a business after all.”

Gemma is always keeping an eye out for ways to save money. She added: “I went to a cash point the other day and it was charging 90p to get cash out.

“I wasn’t having that. I went to another one. I wasn’t going to pay 90p to get cash out. You’ve got to look after the pennies and they’ll look after you.”

Gemma has earned big money thanks to her TV fame on shows including I’m A Celebrity and Dancing on Ice. But she insists her success hasn’t changed her.

She said: “I’m no different these days. I do like the finer things in life, but when you can have all that, it becomes a bit boring.

“The other day I was at home watering my plants. I’m more normal than ever.

“I’m a Romford girl. I’m down to earth.

“We don’t eat caviar for breakfast. I had a £1.20 chicken roll and a cup of tea the other day.”

Gemma was recently crowned the ‘Queen of Cheltenham’ despite losing £2,000 in bets after turning up with a gentleman-in-waiting carrying her train.

She’s not the only famous face to have enjoyed the horses, after Liverpool players were spotted letting off some steam ahead of the Carabao Cup Final.

Former TOWIE star Gemma rolled up at the festival in a blue dress that was so long she needed an assistant to lift the back of it as she walked around the racecourse.

The frock fiasco did not hamper Gemma’s fun day – nor did shipping £2,000 to the bookies.
