JB Gill’s pet pig ‘stops terrified bandmates visiting farm’ for one wild reason

JLS singer JB Gill’s pet pig lives on the singer’s farm but the beast has stopped his friends from visiting the rural location after a run-in with the star’s porky pal

Strictly star JB Gill’s pet pig has got quite a reputation.

The pink porker might just be the reason his JLS pals have swerved visiting his farm. The 38 year old singer has swapped the mic for a pitchfork, becoming a familiar face on telly with gigs on Down on the Farm and Songs of Praise.

However, it’s not all been smooth sailing in the countryside for JB who found himself in a spot of bother when he leapt into action to assist his pig Ginger during labour.

Chatting to the Daily Star’s Wired column, JB recounted the porky predicament: “The first time she had a litter I didn’t know what to expect.”

“I read stories about having to help sheep, cows give birth, get your hand in there. I was prepared to go and do all that. I jumped into her pen, once I knew she was going into labour, and she ran straight at me.”

He continued: “I was like, ‘Woah, what’s going on?’ I called the vet out, they tried to get in, and she pretty much bit – went to bite them. They jumped back out and were like, ‘I’m really sorry, we cannot do anything about it.”

JB explained that they “just had to ride the storm” and joked: “That’s probably why the boys [Aston Merrygold, Oritse Williams and Marvin Humes] don’t come to the farm!”

The former Strictly Come Dancing star, who shares children Ace, 11, and Chiara, seven, with wife Chloe Tangney, swapped the hustle and bustle of city living for a serene rural retreat in Kent, relishing the opportunity for a “quiet and peaceful” existence, reports the Mirror.

Speaking to John Lewis and Partners, he shared: “The countryside immediately felt like home.”

Chloe added: ‘We love the peace and tranquility that comes with being on the farm. Life can be hectic and always on the go, so we wanted our moments of rest to be in a place that was quiet and peaceful.”

Chloe, a dancer who wed JB in 2014, is keen to instil in their children the belief that “everything in life should be sustainable” and that we should all “enjoy the world.”

She explained: “We want to pass the love and respect that we have for our world on to our children, and beyond.” JB first crossed paths with Chloe when she was performing as a backup dancer for JLS, and sparks flew instantly.

The pair tied the knot in 2014 on Scotland’s Isle of Bute. With Chloe having danced since she was three and professionally from 18, JB has been leaning on his wife of 10 years for guidance during his Strictly stint.

In a chat with Mail Online before the competition kicked off at the end of 2024, JB confessed: “To be honest, I probably have the best wife that you could have, for any contestant doing this show, because she comes from that world.”
