An Only Fools and Horses star has a Hollywood legend for a son.
Wanda Ventham and Dennis Lill were cast as Pamela and Alan Parry, appearing in four episodes over three years during series six and seven of Only Fools and Horses, and fans are only just discovering the identity of their child.
Alan was the proprietor of a thriving printing business where Rodney worked from 1989 to 1991, and he eventually became chummy with Del Boy. His frequent overindulgences during meals and drinks with the legendary character often left the haughty Pamela seething.
Wanda has a son who has since ascended to Hollywood stardom – none other than Benedict Cumberbatch. She shares Benedict with fellow actor Timothy Carlton.
In 1976 Wanda tied the knot with Timothy, a celebrated performer hailing from a lineage of decorated war heroes, reports the Express. His acting credits include Keeping Up Appearances, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and Next of Kin.
The couple shared the screen in the 1973 BBC drama The Lotus Eaters and later joined their son in the third and fourth series of BBC’s Sherlock in 2014 and 2017, playing the roles of Sherlock’s parents.
Benedict’s career took off like a rocket with his portrayal of Detective Sherlock Holmes, and he soon found himself starring in films such as Atonement, The Imitation Game and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
He then transitioned to big-budget blockbusters, taking on roles like Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness, Smaug and Sauron in The Hobbit series, and Dr. Stephen Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leading the cast in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
Off-screen, Benedict is hitched to Sophie Hunter, a director and actress known for her roles in Midsomer Murders, Torchwood and Vanity Fair, where she starred alongside Reese Witherspoon.
Despite her relatively minor roles in Only Fools and Horses, Benedict’s mother Wanda is renowned in her own right.
She has featured in two Carry On films and made appearances in Holby City, Doctor Who, and Heartbeat.
In April 2014, Wanda was featured in People magazine’s Most Beautiful People In The World edition.
