Marlon Brando was one of the most iconic actors in the world and sadly died back in July 2004 of respiratory failure from pulmonary fibrosis with congestive heart failure
Hollywood legend Marlon Brando uttered three heartbreaking words to his friend before he died.
The Godfather star died aged 80-years-old and his final conversation was with Broadway legend Karl Malden. According to reports by Farout Magazine, Marlon told him: “It’s no use.”
The actor received a mountain of gongs throughout his six-decade-spanning career. He snagged an Oscar in 1955 and went on to bag three BAFTAs, a Cannes Film Festival accolade, twin Golden Globes, and an Emmy.
Although he enjoyed glittering success, reports indicated that later on Marlon faced a slew of health battles—he grappled with heart trouble, diabetes, and liver cancer, relying on constant medical care and an oxygen mask just to inhale.
Karl Malden, Marlon’s former colleague who lived until 97 before passing in 2009, reminisced about having a weird prescience when Brando would ring him, often predicting it was to share worrying tidings, reports the Express.
Marlon lamented to Malden about his faltering mobility which saw him take repeated tumbles and drastically slow down.
The Oscar-winning veteran suggested that he should come over for some companionship. However, Marlon declined, assuring Karl it wasn’t necessary.
It was later revealed that this exchange between Marlon and Karl was the last time anyone outside his medical team would hear from him.
Tragically, three weeks later, he suffered respiratory failure due to pulmonary fibrosis.
Those who attended to Marlon in his final weeks claimed they knew on the night of his passing that the critically acclaimed actor had a deep understanding of his fate.
Reportedly, Marlon declined the insertion of oxygen tubes into his lungs, despite being informed by medical staff that it could prolong his life.
Just prior to his death, he lent his voice to the film The Big Bug, but sadly passed away in isolation from the world, with only his loyal dog and housemaid for company.
