ITV Farmhouse Breakfast star Jimmy Doherty reveals monkey terror for crew

The first series of the show was a huge hit, having featured a variety of guests last season – but this series is bringing new levels of animal chaos to our screens

Jimmy Doherty and Shivi Ramoutar had to deal with more cheeky animals while filming the new series of their chat show. It’s filmed on a farm, so there was plenty of chaos.

Chef Jimmy said: “We put lots of Easter treats out for the monkeys and the cameraman got chased by one of the female ones… she was very keen on him. And when we built an amazing raft for the polar bears, they pulled it out of the water and ripped off the go-pro camera and threw it into the lake!”

He told ITV: “Working with animals doesn’t always go to plan and there was one incident when we set up some cameras around the monkey enclosure to film them foraging for food… the monkeys made a beeline for the cameras rather than the food, taking them out of the housing and pushing all the buttons and biting the lenses.

“I’ve got to say that the cameras did get a bashing last year, although we did get some great monkey selfies as a result!”

Jimmy and Shivi’s Farmhouse Breakfast is back on ITV1 on April 19.

The first series of the show was a huge hit, having featured a variety of guests last season including Dick and Dom, and has returned for a second series on ITV.

Dick and Dom appeared in the last series

The show is centred on animals and country life, and airs live from Jimmy’s home farm, which is thought to be twice the size of London Zoo.

Doherty’s Farm & Wildlife Park took home the coveted “Experience of the Year” award at the prestigious Visit East of England’s Suffolk & Norfolk Tourism Awards.

It wowed judges with its polar bear experience.

This second series has double the episodes of the first.

Shivi told ITV: “Like in 2024, expect wholesome, family friendly, outdoorsy television focused on great food, drink and company.”

Guests include Strictly Come Dancing’s Vito Coppola, Gladiator Harry Aikines Aryeetey, Joe Pasquale and Lisa Snowdon.

Shivi and Jimmy said they love working together, but that Shivi had to make some adjustments when they first started filming.

She said: “Jimmy is naturally outdoorsy with his farm and being out in the countryside. Last year as a city girl, I had to get used to filming daily on the farm and in the beautiful countryside.

I absolutely loved it and was thrown right in the deep end, with a meerkat meet and greet on day one.”
