Actress Kristen Stewart once learned to pole dance for a film role and visited a strip club to get in the right headspace, which led to a “straight up job offer”

“I went to my first strip club and upon entering the guy was like: ‘You’ll have to come back later if you want a job.’ I learned how to pole dance although you never really see it.”

“You do for a second; it’s like in silhouette. It really hurts and you don’t realise of course it’s really going to show.”

Kristen was even offered a job after she honed her skills: “I went to a strip club with the director and the costume designer and it being an odd grouping of people going into a strip club in the middle of the afternoon, I was like, straight up offered a job.”

In Welcome To The Rileys Kristen played Mallory, a 16-year-old exotic dancer who meets Doug, played by James Gandolfini.

The actress said that her role helped her gain some confidence: “I think what surprised me most is probably the fact that I was so unaware of the fact that I was walking down the street with my robe opened and fishnets and beyond caring at all. I wasn’t scared.”

Stewart admitted that she was “really glad” things took a while to “get up and running” because that meant when the time came, she was “old enough to play the part as opposed to not ready”.

“I think I would have shied away from it too much, so it was shocking to find myself in situations where I was completely fine with them.”

Throughout the 2010 flick, Kristen wore a number of skimpy costumes that helped portray her character: “You’re exposed so often, entrenched the entire time, literally never wanting to take off the trench coat.”

“Also, stuff is really dirty (…) makeup, sets obviously – anything to make you feel like you’re there.”

Welcome To The Riley’s follows Doug and Lois, a couple who have drifted apart since the tragic death of their daughter.

Lois shuts herself away while Doug escapes to New Orleans, where he stumbles across Mallory in a strip club.

The pair grow closer and Lois soon arrives, the pair looking at Mallory through rose tinted glasses as they try to replace their daughter.
