Mickey Rourke was scolded by Celebrity Big Brother even before making his vile remark towards JoJo Siwa.

The 72-year-old Hollywood star has only just arrived in the house but has already come under fire with viewers and bosses. Fans slammed the former boxer when he hit on host AJ Odudu before stepping into the house, but luckily she didn’t seem to phased by it and later addressed the “encounter”.

And now he’s gotten himself in hot water again. On Wednesday (April 9) Mickey was given a warning by producers over his shocking homophobic remarks to pop star JoJo. But it has been also revealed that he was told off by Big Brother before making the grim comments.

At the beginning of the episode, Mickey was scolded for messing around with the show equipment. He was caught covering up the cameras in the bedroom – which goes against the rules as housemates are meant to be filmed at all times during their stint in the house.

Just moments later, he was told off again – this time for not wearing his microphone. When signing up to the show, celebrities agree that they will be recorded 24 hours a day.

Mickey was given a formal warning for using “offensive and unacceptable” language towards JoJo Siwa. She branded him “homophobic” after he said he was “going to vote the lesbian out real quick”.

Mickey asked JoJo: “Do you like girls or boys?” After revealing that her partner is non-binary, Mickey said: “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore,” prompting JoJo to reply: “I can guarantee I’ll still be gay and I’ll still be in a very happy relationship.”

Later on, Mickey declared “I’m going to vote the lesbian out real quick.” JoJo, who overheard it, said: “That’s homophobic, if that was your reasoning,” and Love Island star Chris Hughes told Mickey he can’t say that.

After asking JoJo where the smoking area is, Mickey said: “I need a fag.” Gesturing to JoJo he said: “I’m not talking to you.” Once again, Chris pulled him up on his language, and Mickey responded: “I know. I was talking about a cigarette.”

Mickey was called to the Diary Room and given a stern warning by Big Brother. He was asked if he understands how his language could be offensive to his housemates or the public.

Mickey said: “Yeah I think so. If I was saying it in a nasty kind of way or if I truly meant it.” He was then told: “Further language or behaviour of this nature could lead to you being removed from the Big Brother house.”

He said: “I apologise. I don’t have dishonourable intentions – I’m just talking smack, you know. I wasn’t taking it all so serious. I didn’t mean in it any bad intentions and if I did, sorry.”

Chris told Mickey that JoJo was “very upset earlier” and she told him it was “not an acceptable word”. He told her: “I want to apologise. I’ve got a habit of having a short fuse. And I don’t mean nothing by it. I do mean it [sorry]. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t say it to you.”

Siwa said: “I appreciate your apology.”
