The wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, Jillian Lauren Shriner, was shot in the shoulder and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a manhunt in Los Angeles
Weezer bassist Scott Shriner has shared an update on his wife who was shot by cops and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Best-selling author Jillian Lauren Shriner, 51, was shot in the shoulder by an officer in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles, in California on Wednesday (April 9). Cops say they were searching for three suspects over an unrelated hit-and-run incident near her home.
Police officers found Jillian armed with a handgun as they pursued a suspect through her back garden. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) claim officers had ordered her to drop her gun “numerous” times, but she refused to do so and “pointed the handgun at the officers”.
She was shot non-fatally in the shoulder and fled into her home before she was treated for a gunshot wound at a local hospital. She has now been charged with attempted murder.
Scott, 59, has now revealed that his wife is “alright” after the distressing incident. When approached by a New York Post reporter outside his home, he said: “She’s alright, thank you for asking,” before shutting down speculation that his iconic band might not be playing at Coachella.
“See you at Coachella,” he added. The Buddy Holly hitmakers will join the likes of Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone and Charli XCX at the festival occurring this weekend.
According to local media reports, Lauren had opened fire at one of the alleged hit-and-run suspects after they tried to break into her home, where she lives with Scott. It’s believed she stayed inside the property for around half an hour before coming back outside with her babysitter and surrendering to officers.
According to the Associated Press, Jillian later posted $1million bond and was released from custody. No officers or other members of the public are believed to have been harmed in the incident.
Shriner is a New York Times Best Selling author who wrote about her time living in a Harem and working as a call-girl. The book, titled Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, was released in 2010.
It follows her time with Prince Jefri Bolkiah from 1992 and 1995 and discusses the system she and other women were involved in. It also claims she became the ‘number two’ girlfriend of the Prince, earning hundreds of thousands of dollars for her work across a three year period.
Ms Shriner has opened up about her cancer diagnosis on Facebook. In one post shared on March 23, she wrote: “Three weeks now. Two back to back surgeries including a full hysterectomy. I feel called upon to mention it, because I know only two people who had this procedure and neither is with us today.”
In another post, which appears to show her in a hospital bed, she thanked medical staff and explained her surgery was successful. SHe wrote: “I have a little bit of the C word y’all. I know a lot of us do.
“I’m here to thank the incredible oncology team here, who pulled me through a complicated operation without a hitch. I am always so grateful for every second of the compassionate, and excellent medical care I receive in my life.”
Before she was shot, Ms Shriner gave an update on her latest novel, Behold the Monster. Posted at around 6pm on April 3, UK time, she shared a series of drawings of people thought to be the victims of serial killer Sam Little arranged around a map.
The caption read: “Taken just before I wrapped on the initial draft of BEHOLD THE MONSTER. Mapping Sam’s killing ground throughout Los Angeles. It warms my heart to know that today, several of the women on this wall have regained their name, and more to come.”
