Boxing champ Nicola Adams and girlfriend Ella Baig seemed to have it all before announcing their shock split last month – and it was supposedly all down to her lucrative role on OnlyFans
Strictly Come Dancing’s Nicola Adams and model Ella Baig were the picture of happiness until their split last month. The couple, who met seven years ago, quickly became an item and two years back, they welcomed their son Taylor through IVF.
The duo had a strong following who adored Nicola and Ella’s romance. But in March, they announced that their romantic chapter had ended, with their priority shifting to co-parenting their little boy. Now 43, Nicola has opened up about the reasons behind their breakup, revealing that Ella’s successful stint on the adult content platform OnlyFans was a contributing factor.
But their relationship had its fair shares of ups and downs over the years.
Love at first sight
Four years back, the couple couldn’t stop talking about the moment they first set eyes on each other during a night out. At the time, 27-year-old Ella hadn’t yet dipped her toes into the OnlyFans scene and was working as a makeup artist and blogger, reports the Mirror.
Speaking on their encounter with the Loose Women panel, Ella recalled: “We actually just met on a night out”.
Nicola chimed in: “I was at a birthday party and you were just coming back from a wedding.”
When probed if it was “love at first sight”, the question sent them into fits of laughter. “It was definitely something along those lines,” Ella responded, beaming from ear to ear.
Nicola opened up about the shocking online abuse she and her partner Ella had endured due to their relationship, as they took to social media to expose the horrible insults thrown at them by trolls. Nicola acknowledged their strength in dealing with the negativity, saying: “Normally I just bat comments away and I won’t bother responding to them, I’ll just basically block them. But I know for some people, they’re not as strong willed as I am or as Ella is.”
Welcoming their son, Taylor Nate
Two years ago, Nicola and Ella were blessed with the arrival of their son, Taylor Nate, born via IVF with one of the ex-Strictly sensation Nicola’s eggs. The pair had set their hearts on starting a family back in 2020, two years post their initial meeting during a night out, subsequently beginning IVF treatments using a sperm donor fertilised egg.
Ella carried their son until he arrived slightly early, a month before the expected date. Addressing the parenthood guidance gap for LGBTQ+ families in Vogue magazine, Nicola stated: “The information is out there but we really had to dig for it.”
Ella too shared details of her pregnancy journey to Hello! magazine, including the hectic yet magical moment when her waters broke, prompting her to command her partner to contact the hospital.
“This is the point when everything feels worth the chaos and the long process of IVF. It’s the one outcome you’re waiting for,” she admitted.
Marriage rumours
The couple were quick to shut down whispers that they had secretly wed in November 2022, after fans went wild over a picture that seemed to suggest they had celebrated their nuptials in Mexico.
However, it was teased again when the boxing champion teased her followers with a pic that screamed wedding vibes. Snapped in a snazzy suit, posing in front of afloral arrangement with Ella and Taylor, sparked rumours.
In truth, they were at another couple’s do, not their own. The post was simply captioned: “Perfect Together,” followed by Nicola’s comment on the photo, penning: “I have you, you have me.”
Sadly, despite shining smiles in their holiday photos, rumours suggest that Ella and Nicola hit a rough patch, landing in couples therapy as things started to unravel.
The break up
Insiders close to the couple said they did everything in their power to keep the love alive for their son.
Chatting to The Sun, the source said: “They really tried to make it work, especially for the sake of their son, and even went to couples therapy, but came to the conclusion that they were better off separating.”
Apparently, Nicola believes Ella’s spicy OnlyFans content is partly to blame for their split. Neither half of the ex-pair have publicly spoke about why they split, but fingers are being pointed at the saucy subscription site’s impact on their fizzled romance, despite giving therapy a fair go to stay together.
Chatting with the press about the difficulties of Ella’s gig with the saucy subscription platform, Nicola revealed: “I have always been incredibly supportive of Ella’s career and the choices she has made, including her work on OnlyFans.”
She went on to say: “However, as much as I respect what she does, I can’t deny that it has had an impact on our relationship.”
