28 Years Later trailer’s hidden symbols decoded as film fans discover Easter egg

Fans of the 28 Days Later franchise have noticed some unusual symbols in the trailer for the upcoming film 28 Years Later – little did they realise what the code would lead them to

28 Years Later’s trailer has a secret code and fans can’t believe what it has led them to find.

A new trailer for the horror film was recently released which shows snippets from the upcoming film. Horrifying zombies, lots of blood and mountains of skulls have left film fans even more excited for the released of 28 Years Later, which is set to reach cinemas on 20 June.

Film fans have also decoded a hidden message in the trailer after spotting flashing symbols. One fan used a Rosicrucian cipher, also used in earlier promo for 28 Years Later, and managed to translate to the word “mementomori”.

The Latin phrase translates to “remember that you have to die”. Fans quickly realised that the on-theme message was also the password to a hidden website called rageleaks.net.

Once inside, site visitors are greeting with a creepy webpage with a 28 year countdown and a message that says: “The virus brought us more than the rage.”

“The sorrow, for our lost home. The guilt, for the ones we left behind. The righteous indignation for the secrets being kept from us.”

The message also implies that there was some kind of cover-up used regarding the outbreak and claims that the infected can adapt, with a conspiracy theory surrounding the events of the film.

The film’s description reads: “It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected.”

“One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.”

The horror, directed by Danny Boyle, written by Alex Garland and executive produced by Cillian Murphy, stars Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams and Ralph Fiennes.

Down in the trailer’s comments, film fans had a field day and showered the trailer with love. One person praised the clip for “not showing major plot points” and instead revealing “bits and pieces to keep fans interested for the actual movie.”

“Finally after some years, someone understood that trailers have its own art, you hire artists to make your trailer. THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE A PROPER TRAILER, gives you the feeling of the movie without spoiling it and maked you intrigued to what’s it about,” gushed another fan of the franchise.

“Whoever was in charge of creating this trailer deserves a huge payout. The terror of the audio combined with the glimpses of the movies really paired well. I can’t wait to watch this,” complimented another, while someone else wrote that they “can’t get over the sound design in the trailer” and branded the creator “a master of their craft”.
