Celebrity Big Brother has been full of drama this year, with Mickey Rourke making vile comments about Donna Preston, who is best known for starring in Netflix’s Brassic
Celebrity Big Brother is set to end tonight in a dramatic final – with comedian Donna Preston set to potentially win the show.
Mickey Rourke, who got the boot from the Celebrity Big Brother house for his “aggressive behaviour” and “vile” remarks to fellow celebs, had a pop at Donna not long after he rocked up. The scandal kicked off when he fat-shamed her on TV while she was sporting an LED mask. The Tinseltown actor was curious about the mask and asked Donna about it. She responded that it was for her “neck wrinkles”, to which the actor sniped: “Maybe you should just run around the block instead for 10 minutes.”
Donna brushed off his dig, responding: “Yeah I am getting a little turkey neck,” reports OK! But then he said: “Comes with the territory… it’s like what they say ‘you are what you eat’.”
Since Mickey’s exit from the house, the Donna’s initial interaction, she has grown in popularity both in the house and out. She grew close to Eastenders legend Patsy Palmer, and it still in the house alongside Chris Hughes, Jojo Siwa, Jack P Shepherd, Danny Beard and Chesney Hawkes.
Who is Donna?
Donna is a 38-year-old actress hailing from a town in York. Although she’s only become a household name recently, she’s been in the entertainment business for years.
Her acting journey began in movies, appearing in films like Dirty Money, Set the Thames on Fire, and Rough and Ready. Donna’s other notable roles include her time on Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, where she helped prank unsuspecting members of the public, and her rise to Netflix fame in Brassic.
She has also appeared in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and is currently promoting Netflix’s The Sandman, where she stars in two episodes alongside David Tennant.
Her reality TV portfolio includes appearances on shows like The Weakest Link, Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity Gogglebox, and Pointless Celebrities.
Coronation Street enthusiasts will be thrilled to see soap legends Patsy and Jack on Celebrity Big Brother this year. However, what some fans might not know is that Donna also had a stint on the famous cobbles, sharing screen time with Corrie stalwart Steve McDonald, played by Simon Gregson.
While Donna is more renowned for her Netflix performances, she did have a brief encounter on Coronation Street in 2018 as Abi Webster’s friend Den.
She attended a party and flirted with Steve, a moment that would linger in Steve’s memory as the plot unfolded.
Abi snapped a photo of him engaging with several women, including Den, at the party, using it as leverage to keep him quiet about her residing in Eileen Grimshaw’s (Sue Cleaver) house.
Family heartache
While staying in the iconic Celebrity Big Brother house in West London, Donna, known for keeping her personal life private, broke down in tears as she discussed her sister’s ongoing health struggles with TV personality Trisha Goddard.
In a heart-to-heart conversation, Donna confided in Trisha, who has been battling stage four breast cancer since 2022, that her sister had also been diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite her own health challenges, Trisha shared her experience with a groundbreaking new medication, stating: “It’s my new normal. I’ve stopped being scared, I’ve always been a bit nervous before scans, but you know.
“My cancer count has come down and down and down, this drug is working.”
As Donna shared her sister’s fight against the same illness, she became visibly emotional, revealing that it made her “appreciate” her own body more. Trisha offered her a comforting hug, adding: “It’s a tough, s****y thing, isn’t it?”.
Christine McGuinness feud
Reports suggest that Donna and Christine had a disagreement while filming Hey Tracey! in 2019. According to The Sun, Paddy McGuinness’s ex-wife had a confrontation with Donna on set.
Christine claimed that Donna said to her: “I’ve got no f****** idea who you are. I don’t care who you are, I don’t know who you think you are, and I don’t know what you’re even doing here. You are really beautiful, aren’t you? But there’s nothing else.”
In her tell-all book ‘A Beautiful Nightmare’, Christine spoke on a particularly distressing encounter, confessing: “I was mortified, embarrassed and humiliated, I felt so s***! But she went on and on. ‘Just f****** stop now!’ my brain screamed.”
She recounted the aftermath of the incident, saying: “I returned to my hotel shaken and in floods of tears – I’ve never cried so much! I was really upset about it and ever since then it’s always been a focus in my mind. ‘Do I actually want to be on TV? Is this for me? Do I want to stay as a TV personality?'”.
Christine also revealed that Donna had attempted to make amends via social media, although she admitted to fans that she hadn’t “replied or spoken to her since”. At the time, Donna’s representatives were approached by Reach for a statement.
