Actor Rupert Grint took to social media to share the adorable pic of his new bundle of joy, as well as sharing the child’s unique name – after keeping the pregnancy secret
Rupert Grint has left fans floored after confirming he is a dad for the second time.
With HBO’s new TV adaptation of the Harry Potter film series in the works, attention has turned to what the original cast of the films are up to. Fred Weasley star James Phelps recently gave Daily Star his verdict on the new series.
Rupert Grint, who played Fred’s brother Ron in the Potter films, has now announced that he has become a father for the second time. The actor broke the record for the fastest time to reach 1 million Instagram followers in 2020 – and now he’s delighted fans with another baby snap.
He shocked followers by announcing that not only was his partner Georgia Groome pregnant, she also had given birth to their new child. He revealed the pair had opted to keep the news a “secret” before announcing the little tot’s arrival.
The actor shared an adorable snap of their newborn. He also revealed the baby’s rather unique name, with followers loving it.
He uploaded a photo of the baby, sporting a cosy onesie embroidered with the name “Goldie” on it. The baby was also wrapped up warm with a grey cardigan, surrounded by a leopard-print zipped blanket.
Writing in the caption, Rupert wrote: “‘Secret Child Slightly Revealed’. Introducing Goldie G. Grint. A 10/10 baby (so far). Shout out to Dr. Alex Digesu for always delivering,” with Dr. Alex being a renowned childbirth expert.
Fans were stunned by the sudden announcement that Rupert would be a father again, and flocked to the comments section to congratulate the happy couple. “Congratulations, Rupert!” one penned, “she is so beautiful, just like her big sister; her mother and you are wonderful parents.”
Some other fans could not help themselves but make jokes about the surprise baby, referencing and celebrating the birth of another Gryffindor child into the Weasley household. Rupert appeared to take the cheeky comments in his stride.
Rupert started going out with Georgia – best known for her lead role in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging – back in 2011. However, the pair went largely unnoticed and their relationship was only publicly revealed when a pic of the pair went viral on Twitter, now X, several years later.
Chatting about his relationship with Georgia, Rupert told Glamour magazine: “It’s a very natural thing – we’re just best friends. We’re kind of the same person; we think the same way.
“That’s always made it work – that’s why it’s lasted. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is, but it works and it’s great,” the Mirror reported.
Back in 2019, the pair appeared to hint at tying the knot together, after both were seen wearing wedding rings, but these claims were later debunked by Rupert and Georgia, insisting they were not getting married. In May of 2020, Georgia gave birth to their first child, with Rupert joining Instagram solely to announce the news.
While initially an anxious dad, Rupert has since learned to let go and have some fun with his daughter. However, he admitted he was left red-faced when the little one started swearing after watching her dad do it for a role.
“She spends a lot of time in my dressing room when I’m kind of doing my lines for [Servant], and my character says the f-word a lot,” he said in an interview with Jimmy Fallon. “Now she just says it whenever she’s excited. We were in the toy store today and she was just walking around, dropping it.”
