JoJo Siwa says a ‘lot more came out’ in hidden messages with Chris Hughes on CBB

Celebrity Big Brother star JoJo Siwa has opened up about the secret messages she shared with Chris Hughes in the Big Brother house that led to them breaking the rules

Ex-housemate JoJo Siwa has dished the dirt on her covert chats with Chris Hughes in Celebrity Big Brother, confessing that “a lot more came out” than what the audience got to see.

She was nabbed one night for scribbling a secret message on her fellow contestant’s hand, breaking the show’s strict no-nonsense rules.

Finalists JoJo, aged 21, and Chris, 32, hit it off in the Big Brother pad during the most recent run of the ITV reality fest, which wrapped up last week. But just a week into the series, they were rumbled for using “in code” to communicate, leaving their housemates less than chuffed.

The former Dance Moms sensation later spilled the beans on the show, revealing that their hush-hush exchanges were about gender identity. At the time, she explained: “Essentially, you have female, you have male. I’ve met a lot of females – love them [but] don’t feel like I’m them. Met a lot of males – love them [but] definitely not them.”

While spilling her guts in the Diary Room alongside Chris, JoJo added: “I’ve met a lot of people in my life that are non-binary and [they] are who I feel the most like. It’s not something that I want to say about myself yet but it’s something that is confusing.”

Now out of the Big Brother spotlight, JoJo – who recently called it quits with her beau Kath Ebbs at a post-show bash – revisited the sneaky hand-writing episode while appearing on the fresh-off-the-press episode of the Useless Hotline podcast today, reports the Mirror.

Chatting on the podcast, JoJo couldn’t recall the exact words she scribbled on his hand: “I don’t remember exactly what I wrote on his hand. […] Those first three nights we would just like talk.”

The special guest opened up about the initial excitement: “Like you didn’t know what you were saying. You had no one to talk to. It was also in the phase when it was like fun to yap in the house. […] Those first few days it was fun to chit-chat.”

JoJo elaborated a bit more, albeit vaguely: “So I don’t remember exactly the word or words or whatever that I wrote. But the context obviously … and I gave a bit of context on the show.”

She noted that talking about gender identity “in the open” nowadays is “more stressful”, though she hopes it can shine a light for those in the same boat.

Going into details about the conversation, JoJo reflected: “The topic of conversation had to do with gender identity, whatever, and y’know saying just what I said on the show. There’s female, there’s male, there’s non-binary. Met a lot of beautiful non-binary people. I do feel a lot like them but I don’t know if that’s me yet. Like, I’m very much still female. I feel very female but just an interesting topic that my mind has been open to.”

Spilling the tea, JoJo hinted at even more juicy deets from that night, saying cheekily on the pod: “I will give you a little bit of insight – I wrote a lot on his hand that night. There was a lot more that came out over hand text that night.

“It was not the four letters. You know what I mean? And I think that’s … a lot of people have asked me like ‘but you wrote four letters. What do you mean?’ And I was like ‘no, no, no babe’. Like we were scribbling. I was scribbling.”

While chatting on the podcast, JoJo opened up about identity, saying: “It’s okay to not know. And I think the more people that realise ‘oh it’s okay to not know’. It’s okay to be curious. It’s okay to see different communities and say ‘am I a part, am I not?’.”
