Celebrity Big Brother star and singer JoJo Siwa has opened up about her split from ex Kath Ebbs and the tense events that took place at the ITV show’s wrap party
JoJo Siwa has shared more details about her split from ex Kath Ebbs.
The 21-year-old singer was in a relationship with Kath during her time in the Celebrity Big Brother house. However, the pair broke up at the show’s wrap party – with Kath claiming JoJo dumped them at the event and that they felt “humiliated”.
JoJo formed a strong friendship with Love Island star Chris Hughes, 32, in the CBB house. Their relationship has attracted criticism and many fans were left wondering if something romantic was going on between them.
JoJo confirmed on ITV’s This Morning that she and Chris were platonic but had a “soulmate friendship”. Speculation about their relationship had grown as they reportedly spent the weekend together and were spotted at a tennis club.
JoJo, who revealed she was queer and not a lesbian during her time in the house, has now hit back at her ex Kath. Despite the non-binary Australian content creator suggesting JoJo and Chris could be romantic, JoJo says this isn’t the case.
During a chat on The Viall Files podcast, JoJo said: “Chris does not have absolutely anything to do with it. Chris and I are friends, we have a very great friendship,”
She also decided to set the record straight on what happened at the wrap party, claiming: “They [Kath] said I broke up with them at the wrap party. That’s not entirely the story.
“The story goes, they had mentioned to production they did not want to come to the wrap party. I said ‘all good, I’m gonna go’.
“It’s not their environment and that’s so fine, whatever, but I’m gonna go and have a great time and I want to meet all the crew and everybody’s going and it’s a big deal.”
She continued: “I’m already having all these crazy thoughts and I need to formulate them. I need to talk to mom and I need to be alone. I need to look at my phone, I need to see what’s going on and realise what I’m feeling.
“I’m not in a place to talk, I’m in a place to have a fun, cute opening conversation but I’m not in a place to actually talk yet. And so I was honest about that and I mentioned to them look I know you don’t want to come to the afterparty but I’m gonna go and then I’m gonna go to my hotel, I’m gonna go on my phone so why don’t you go to yours and we’ll reconvene tomorrow morning.”
The Dance Moms star admitted she upset Kath, adding: “That upset them rightfully so, they wanted to be with me but I knew I wasn’t in a place for that. They didn’t wanna go to the wrap party but they wanted to come to the hotel. I was just like ‘I’m not’.”
JoJo said she and Kath went their separated for the evening and Kath began driving to the hotel. JoJo then got told by a member of the welfare team that Kath had changed her mind and wanted to come.
JoJo went on: “I took his [member of the welfare team’s] phone and filmed a video of the party. I said it’s not really your scene but if you would love to come then come. Then something else happened – I got told something else they didn’t want and it kind of made me feel like okay this is very strange, I really don’t like this vibe right now.”
“When they got to the party they had huts for us so we started to have a conversation, a chat before we go over there. And that conversation started immediately, I was gonna lead the talking then they led the talking and all I’m saying to every question they ask is ‘I don’t know’.
“Are you this? I don’t know. Are you that? I don’t know. Are you happy in our relationship? All of a sudden we’re having it [the conversation] and we’re at the wrap party for Big Brother, I’m getting cussed out. I understand why they’re coming at me and why they’re angry but I also keep reiterating that I’m not in a place to talk.”
“By the sixteenth time somebody asks you are you happy, do you wanna end things you’re just gonna spew your guts and I honestly said if you ask me tomorrow I don’t know my answer, if you ask me now my answer is yes.
“Then that obviously was taken as yes and it was a yes and whatever. They didn’t wanna be alone so I said come to the hotel and we can continue talking.”
Kath said they were in “complete shock” after JoJo dumped them – also alleging that there were “confused feelings” between JoJo and Chris. “Do with that what you will,” they said.
“And they had realised in the house that I wasn’t the person they wanted to spend the foreseeable with.”
