Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne has issued a promise to his loyal followers ahead of Back To The Beginning, his final ever gig which is set to take place on 5 July
Ozzy Osbourne has made a heart-breaking confession ahead of his final ever gig.
The Black Sabbath singer has vowed he will “do the best he can” as he prepares to sing with the band for one last time on 5 July in Birmingham.
76-year-old Ozzy is headlining Back To The Beginning, a rock music event that will see all original members – Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward – performing together for the first time in two decades.
Osbourne recently addressed the upcoming gig and made a promise to his fans: “I’ll be there and I’ll do the best I can, so all I can do is turn up.”
“We’re only playing a couple of songs each. I don’t want people thinking: ‘We’re getting ripped off,’ because it’s just going to be, what’s the word? A sample.”
“You’re going to get a few songs each by Ozzy and Sabbath.”
Ozzy’s poor health means that the heavy metal pioneer won’t be able to play a full set but has credited the idea of a reunion concert, which he’s described as “something to give him a reason to get up in the morning,” to his wife Sharon.
The musician is battling Parkinson’s and has previously spoken about his health issues with The Guardian: “You wake up the next morning and find that something else has gone wrong. You begin to think this is never going to end.”
Black Sabbath’s last reunion was in 2017. Ozzy, Iommi and Butler performed, but Ward was absent.
In 2024, Ozzy was sadly not well enough to perform at his inauguration into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
Black Sabbath, who rose to fame back in 1969, were inaugurated in 2006.
