A Coronation Street star is worlds away from the cobbles after leaving the ITV soap.

Soap star Adam Hussain, 24, has played Aadi Alahan on Corrie for five years but it’s recently been revealed he’s exiting the soap. Aadi is the son of shopkeeper Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin).

Adam has shared that he’s helping out at his family’s tailoring business in Sale, Manchester. It seems the actor knows his way around a sewing machine as he was seen stitching a black puffer jacket.

He took to Instagram with a snap showing a number of sewing machines and some garments that needed some work done. He tagged the family business, Stitch In Time, and wrote: “Helping out at the family business.”

Adam, who took on the role of Aadi in April 2020, confirmed he was leaving Coronation Street for “new pastures” last month. He wrote on Instagram: “I guess the secrets out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures.

“Over the five years I’ve spent there I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little. I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!”

The star teased he’d be back on the cobbles at some point in the future. “This isn’t a farewell for Aadi however, more like a see you later!”

“I’m excited to see what the future brings! Thank you Coronation Street (and) ITV for giving me such a privilege of portraying this character for you. Until next time!”

Hussein first appeared on the show on April 2020 alongside Tanisha Gorey, who plays his twin, Asha. Adam replaced the original Aadi actor Zennon Ditchett, who quit the role to focus on his studies.

It’s said that Hussein has already had a lot of opportunities offered to him since stepping away from Weatherfield. A source told The Sun: “He’s telling people he’s quit, not because he’s had enough of the show but his character hasn’t had any decent storylines for ages.

“He’s had loads of new opportunities coming his way so he already feels like he’s made the right decision.”

The actor is also working on a film with the likes of Hollyoaks star Kirsty-Leigh Porter, who plays Leela Dexter on the E4 soap.
