Harry Styles has confused fans after he was spotted at Pope Leo XIV’s first public announcement in his new role.
The One Direction singer, 31, was spotted by fans in the crowds in Rome as he tried to keep a low profile in a grey cap which had ‘Techno is my boyfriend’ written on it and black sunglasses.
The Watermelon Sugar singer witnessed the first American named pope in Vatican City which has spurred on a number of social media posts from fans.
With some being excited to see him on the monumental day, others were confused at the revelation. One wrote: “Harry styles is so random, one day he’s at the Grammy’s winning album of the year, then he’s running a marathon in japan… But he could also be in Rome waiting for the announcement of the new pope, I love being his fan.”
A second added: “Can’t believe the new pope got a glimpse of Harry styles on his first day of the new job.”
While a third wrote: “Why is harry styles at the Vatican?????” Whilst another put: “How why the f*** is Harry Styles at the Vatican.”
According to reports, Harry has never confirmed whether he is Catholic or not. In a past tweet from 2010, he answered a fan’s question about his religion clarifying he was “christened but not really religious”.
In a past interview with Chelsea Handler, he also said: “I definitely consider myself to be more spiritual than religious.
“I’m not super tied-in to certain rules but I think it’s naïve to say nothing exists and there’s nothing above us or more powerful than us. I think that’s a little narrow-minded.
“I definitely believe in karma. I think ‘everything happens for a reason’ is a difficult one because there’s a lot of s*** happening in the world that’s so unfair right now. So it’s hard to look at that stuff and think, ‘Well, everything happens for a reason’.
“But I definitely think there’s something, that it’s not just us. It’s kind of crazy to think that it’s just us. I’m not saying I believe in aliens, but you know what I mean.”
