Hollyoaks stars fear being axed from show as ‘no one is safe’

Hollyoaks stars fear they will be axed when the show has its 30th anniversary this autumn.

A raft of explosive episodes are reportedly planned to mark three decades of the Channel 4 soap, and the cast have shared their fears of an oncoming bloodbath.

A huge cull last year saw a whole host of actors ditched from the series as part of the plot. Notably, a car explosion caused by character Dave Williams killed James Nightingale, before the perpetrator was shot by Robbie Roscoe in an act of revenge.

Hollyoaks actors have suggested that even the major cast don’t feel safe and secure in their roles, expecting to be bumped off at any minute.

Jessica Fox, who plays Nancy, said: “If the past year has taught us anything, it’s that no one is guaranteed to stay. You just have to cross your fingers and toes that you will.”

Ashley Taylor Dawson, who plays Darren, added: “Anyone can go. That’s the industry we’re in.

“You never take anything for granted. If it’s your time, it’s your time. You just have to deal with it.”

Despite their nerves, the cast are still excited to mark the milestone. After a turbulent few years, everyone remains thrilled that the show is still on air.

Jessica said: “There will be a big build up. There are lots of exciting things happening.

Ashley agreed, enthusing: “We have to go all out. I think we’re in a great place at the moment and it’s time to celebrate.”
