Virgin Island has left viewers gobsmacked right from the first episode.

Channel 4 dropped the new series just days ago and it’s already causing quite the stir.

The provocative programme follows twelve adult virgins as they embark on a tailor-made intimacy course aimed at helping them conquer their sexual anxieties. Sexology experts Celeste Hirschman and Dr. Danielle Harel are at the helm, guiding the virgins through various tasks designed to boost their confidence via hands-on sex therapy.

Their most eyebrow-raising method includes the option of a surrogate partner, a professional who can engage in physical intimacy with clients when they feel ready.

Despite assurances from the show’s professionals that participant welfare was top priority during filming, one contestant was reduced to tears within minutes of the episode.

As the virgins got a glimpse of what the retreat had in store, Emma was visibly shaken by the explicit act. She broke down crying as she witnessed one of the specialists being simulatedly thrust against a wall, reports the Mirror.

Emma confided to the camera after seeing the racy demonstration: “I don’t think I was fully ready for that. I walked away feeling very overwhelmed. I felt quite uncomfortable watching that.”

Opening up about her body image issues, Emma revealed: “It’s a never-ending cycle, a roundabout that never stops.”

Things got too much for her as the experts gave a demonstration

Emma revealed that she was cruelly taunted as a “duff” while growing up and was labelled as “fat and ugly”. This led her to believe she was unattractive and the Channel 4 star admitted: “I would always believe that I was ugly. I think there is a lot I need to work on.”

Ahead of the show’s launch, experts Celeste and Danielle shed light on the unique approach employed in the series. They explained to the Mirror: “A surrogate partner therapist works in conjunction with a traditional licensed therapist and then a client.”

This dual approach ensures that if any emotional issues arise for the client, a trained therapist is on hand to offer support. Meanwhile, the surrogate partner guides the client through a gradual progression of intimate experiences.

The first episode was a rollercoaster for the virgin contestants

Celeste elaborated: “Everything from basic touching to getting comfortable with nudity and then all the way through to manual sex, oral sex and even intercourse, depending on what’s needed for the particular client.”

Danielle emphasized the paramount importance of consent throughout the programme. “During the show, all the coaches, all the practitioners were really mindful about consent,” she stressed.
