Eurovision Song Contest’s final is on tonight [17 May] and viewers had to look twice after spotting “Shania Twain” singing her heart out as an entry in the competition
Eurovision fans have been left stunned after “spotting Shania Twain”.
Spain’s entry Melody sang Esa Diva took to the stage wearing a large black hat, a black crystal embellished bodysuit and long brunette hair that resembled country singer Shania Twain.
Gobsmacked fans took to social media to joke about her resemblance to the American pop singer and one person joked: “Shania Twain singing for #Spain #Eurovision.”
“Spain: Is that a seductive Spanish Shania Twain,” asked another X/Twitter user. One fan branded her “Shania Spain” while someone else wrote: “Spain is giving me Latina Shania Twain.”
Graham Norton is hosting Eurovision for the UK this year and fans are only just realising the presenter’s real name.
The chat show host originally went by Graham William Walker but after joining Equity, an actor’s union, he decided to change his surname to Norton as there was already a comic-actor named Graham Walker.
He went with the moniker as Norton was his great grand-mother’s maiden name.
Graham was particularly excited to see the UK’s 2025 entry Remember Monday perform on stage for the chance to take home the crown.
This trio is the first girl group flying the flag for the UK since Precious in 1999. Graham said: “Remember Monday have a great advantage in that they are unlike any other act this year.”
“Their vocals and harmonies are flawless, the song has a very strong hook and the trio are hugely likeable. With a decent place in the running order they should do very well indeed.”
