A British football stadium will be transformed into a brand-new festival over bank holiday weekend – including headlining stars Ella Henderson and Richard Ashcroft.

The Lamex Stadium is usually home to League One team Stevenage Borough but – for three days – will turn into a star-studded celebration of music across all genres.

The SMR 25 festival will be taking over the Hertfordshire town, that is located a stone’s throw from the iconic Knebworth Park where plenty of iconic acts have played.

Now, the late bank holiday line-up will be putting Stevenage itself on the map for the place to enjoy some tunes from British pop queen Ella Henderson, heavy metal rock-band Skindred and an indie pioneer Richard Ashcroft (once frontman of the Verve).

Welsh rock band Skindred headlines Friday with their headbanging heavy hits, bringing metal energy to their performances with ‘Gimme That Boom’ and ‘Nobody’.

And X Factor alumni Ella Henderson takes the stage on Saturday, with her long-list of dance tunes – ‘Crazy What Love Can Do’, ‘Alibi’ and ‘REACT’ – which she effortlessly belts out.

Ashcroft’s Sunday headliner performance makes for only one of three UK shows before the iconic singer joins Oasis for their reunion tour this summer.

The singer-songwriter formed the Verve that dominated alternative rock throughout the 90s, with their massive melancholic-up beat hit ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’.

Looks like SMR 25 has a bit of everything for everyone, including support sets from Bob Vylan on Friday, Sigala on Saturday and The Zutons on Sunday – plus many more.

If you’re not one to travel into the Big Smoke or want to get out of it, then a train to Stevenage is just a 27 minute train from London St Pancras.

SMR 25 Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th May starts from 3:30pm, with curfew at 10:30pm each night. Tickets, starting from £55, are still available and can be purchased from the website, here.
