Pulp Fiction star and Hollywood Brit Tim Roth revealed he liked to rhyme the Reform leader’s last name with the leafy crucifer, despite his concerns for the far-right party’s growing popularity
Liz Truss was famously compared to a lettuce, with Nigel Farage this week being branded a cabbage. Actor Tim Roth, 64 – famed for starring in Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction – said whenever he talked about the Reform UK leader and MP, he rhymed his name with the leafy veg.
The actor said he was ‘delighted’ that the Tories no longer ran the country, but said he was ‘worried’ that Nigel Farage was ‘gaining momentum’.
The dad-of-three – who played a racist skinhead in his breakthrough role in the television play Made in Britain in 1983 – said it was a ‘good thing for humanity’ that the Tories were sidelined.
Asked about the rise of right-wing populist party Reform UK – which has five MPs and got just over 14% of the vote in the last General Election – Tim revealed his nickname for Farage.
He said: “I like calling him Farridge…rhyming his name with cabbage.”
The star, who was born in London, but now lives in LA, said he was equally worried about Donald Trump’s legacy. He said: “It’s thoroughly depressing and heartbreaking.
“It feels like he is the guy that opens the door for the real dangers so even when he’s gone, I worry about what will be left behind. It is quite scary.”
Former MP Liz Truss was compared to a lettuce after she was ‘outlasted’ by an Iceberg lettuce, serving just 49 days in office in 2022.
Proving less robust than a 60p Tesco lettuce, Truss became the shortest-serving PM ever when she stepped down from the position on October 20, 2022 after brief but chaotic term.
Truss called the lettuce livestream as “puerile”. She added: “I think that the British media are known throughout the world for being particularly vociferous and I don’t think they are particularly deferential to politicians.”
Meanwhile, Donald Trump has been compared to a number of things, including the Golden Pheasant and an Oompa Loompa. Most recently however, the orange manbaby compared himself to Star Wars hero Luke Skywalker when he posted a bizarre AI-generated image of himself for International Star Wars day from the official White House X account.
In the bonkers, slightly porny image, 78-year-old American President’s beefy chest and ripped biceps peep through his low cut top, while he appears to hold a red light saber in front of the American Flag, with two bald-headed eagles posing menacingly behind him.
