EXCLUSIVE: I’m A Celeb star Helen Flanagan revealed she went the extra mile to prepare for her I’m A Celeb All Stars stint – so she could smash all of the Bushtucker Trials
I’m A Celeb icon Helen Flanagan revealed she spent big bucks on getting herself prepared for I’m A Celeb All Stars.
The TV actress, 34, appeared on the ITV reality show back in 2012 and returned for the All Stars version back in 2023. But before she ventured back in for a second time, she wanted to get herself in a winning mindset and decided to go to a phobia coach.
Helen spoke exclusively to Daily Star at the Which Bingo Awards and said: “For All Stars, I properly trained for that and paid a phobia coach.
“He would get me involved with all the snakes and all these bugs. I remember being in this bath and this guy chucked cockroaches on me until I stopped screaming.
“It was at this farm, there were tarantulas and snakes, it was really good for your mind. I paid the guy to do loads of phobias with me, heights and all sorts.
“But when I got there, it was the producers choosing who did the trials, so I only got picked to do a few but I had prepped for everything. I had literally done so much beforehand.
“I would go to Go Ape all the time for heights, which I’m glad because I did the highest trial in I’m A Celeb history with Myleene Klass and Amir Khan. It’s like being an actress, if you don’t learn your lines and don’t prepare for it, you won’t be ready.
“You have to get yourself in a different mindset, but it was such a nice feeling to be ready for it.”
Coronation Street star Helen also claimed that it was now the perfect time to focus on her career and would be up for returning to the ITV cobbles.
Helen shared: “I had my children a little bit younger and Charlie is now going to go to school, so I think it’s my time now to really focus on my career and put my all into that.
“It’s really funny because I see interviews all the time and I see things written about me, and this isn’t me getting the violin out, but it was such a ridiculous article saying I reached out to Corrie bosses and they declined.
“Then I read ‘Helen’s rejection must be personal’ it’s like ugh, stop writing this stuff.”
“Things take time. I would be open to going back, of course, I would.
“With Corrie, I have a lot to be grateful for, I’m from a normal family and it changed my life so much. I don’t know what I would have done with out it.”
