Whitney Purvis, famed for her stint on 16 and Pregnant, took to Facebook with heartbreaking news of her son Weston Gosa Jr’s death.
The former MTV star, who gave birth to West on the show, shared a heartfelt throwback snap with her son, their smiles lighting up the snapshot as she held him near. On Whitney’s Facebook, alongside this soul-stirring picture, stood a poignant homage.
Her words read: “Rest in Peace, my baby Weston. I love you forever, precious. I’ll never understand why life has to be so cruel. You’ll always be my baby.”
Her post was met with a wave of condolences from followers and pals alike.
A comment popped up reading: “So sorry to hear this. What a handsome boy. May he rest in eternal peace,” and another empathetic voice chimed in, “Unimaginable! I’m so sorry. Praying for you!”, reports OK!.
Support poured in, with reactions such as: “I’m so so sorry girl, praying and I’m here if you need anything at all,” and “Sending prayers in hopes of some comfort and healing!! RiP little man!”
One more added: “Omg Whitney. I don’t have the words but sending so much love.”
And yet another expressed their sympathy: “Awwww man my condolences go out to you that’s so sad. I will pray for your peace and understanding, I’m sorry you have to go through something so heartbreaking like this.”
Whitney has yet to reveal the specifics surrounding her son’s tragic passing, however, Weston’s stepmum, Amy Gosa, has reportedly shed some light on the situation via social media. She shared that she tried to rouse him at 7am on Monday but was unable to.
Amy further revealed that CPR was performed and paramedics swiftly transported Weston to a nearby hospital where he was sadly declared dead, as reported by TMZ.
At present, the family is awaiting the post-mortem examination results. Amy also disclosed that Weston had several health complications, including diabetes.
Weston, born in April 2009, was named after his father who featured in the inaugural season of 16 and Pregnant with a pregnant Whitney.
Post-show, Whitney lost custody of Weston and her other son, River. Last year, she was arrested for allegedly neglecting to pay child support.
