EXCLUSIVE: Shakira Khan has ruled out sex on the ITV2 dating show and said her beloved dad – a Love Island “super-fan” – warned her not to go all the way on telly
Love Island 2025 star Shakira has slapped herself with a sex ban while she’s in the villa.
The 22-year-old from Burnley will soon be looking for love on the ITV2 dating show, which returns with its new series next Monday (June 9) at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX. The brunette beauty, who works in marketing, is hoping to meet Mr Right but it sounds like he’ll have to wait when it comes to the bedroom.
And it turns out her dad, who is a Love Island “super-fan”, urged her not to bonk any fellas on TV during her time in the villa, where Islanders can sneak off to The Hideaway to “do bits” if they so wish. She told Daily Star: “I told my family [about the show] and they’re over the moon.
“So buzzing, my dad’s like a Love Island super-fan. He’s watched every season. He’s buzzing for it. He just said, ‘Don’t have sex on TV!’. Definitely not! Definitely not.”
Asked if she’d be tempted to do stuff if she found a connection in the villa, she replied: “No, off-limits, and I think it’s easy to forget [about time] when you’re in there from what I’ve heard that eight weeks seems a lot longer.
“For me, sex after eight weeks? Bit of a no-go. I’m quite particular, I like to be wined and dined first [laughs].”
Asked what her type is, she said: “Someone who’s witty, really funny, is someone who can make me laugh until my tummy hurts. Obviously big arms is a bonus, someone who’s good looking, but I’m sure they’ll all be absolutely lush [in the villa].
“Someone who is going to make me laugh when I’m 80 and we’re old and we’re on a porch with our little grandkids.”
Shakira said she’s . “Absolutely, I could argue with a brick wall. If arguing was an Olympic sport, I’d have a gold medal, and I’ll just argue in their face. Even if I’m wrong, I’ll argue until I have no breath left [laughs]. I’m stubborn!”
She added: “I won’t go hunting for the drama, but if someone wants to pick a fight with me, girls or not, they’re going to get a response. I’m definitely a friends girl, so if you’re one of my friends then everything’s off-limits. I won’t speak to your fella, I’ve got your back through everything.”
Shakira also admitted she’s had run-ins with past Islanders. “I’m a bit of a Manchester girl on a night out,” she said. “I definitely like to be in the VIP area sometimes!
“I’ve run into the likes of Callum Jones, Jess Wright, Tom Clare, Casey [O’Gorman], Adam [Maxted]. There’s definitely a few Islanders bopping about in Manny.” She confirmed nothing romantic has happened between her and these villa veterans.
However, she did admit she fancies Callum, who was with Molly Smith and is currently with Myna Amor. Shakira said: “If Callum Jones was single I would have given that a little try I think! I knew he had a girlfriend so I stayed clear. I did get a little wink though…”
