Former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson splashed out on an £85,000 green Lamborghini tractor in scenes that aired on Clarkson’s Farm, but it seems like he regrets his decision
Jeremy Clarkson is selling the new Lamborghini tractor he bought for his farm – just weeks after splashing out £85k on it.
The former Top Gear host, 65, was agonising over the decision to buy the giant – and expensive – tractor last month on Clarkson’s Farm, which has just returned with its new series. Jezza was seen trying out loads of new tractors – much to the dismay of his partner Lisa Hogan.
He admitted making a decision on a new tractor was “filling me with absolute dread”. He decided to buy a colossal £85,000 green Lamborghini tractor, boasting a 7.8-litre engine and 340 horsepower.
The hefty purchase left his farm manager Kaleb Cooper gobsmacked. But on Monday (June 9) he was spotted flogging the tractor at a farm machinery and tractor sale, in Sutton, near Ely in Cambridgeshire.
Onlookers said the presenter told fans he was selling the posh tractor due to a host of electrical problems and that he had decided to bring his old Lamborghini tractor back out of retirement. Clarkson and Kaleb were spotted with a film crew – and the tractor – by an engineer at the auction.
The fan, 31, who does not want to be named, said: “It was fantastic. I was so surprised to see him there.
“I was getting a coffee and someone said he was there. I turned around and realised I was right near his tractor. I’m a massive fan. It was amazing!
“I watched every episode of Top Gear with my dad and every episode of Clarkson’s Farm with my son.”
When asked for comment Cheffins remained tight-lipped. But they posted a video on Instagram of the tractors up for auction yesterday (9) – including a green Lambo. One poster wrote: “Is that Clarksons Lamborghini?” and a dozen people responded with a ‘thumbs up’.
Clarkson famously owns a Lamborghini Trattori R8 270 DCR he purchased for £40,000 second-hand. It is not known if this is the one he is “taking out of retirement”.
Jezza recently addressed the possibility of bringing back his new farmhand Harriet back to the show. She temporarily replaced Kaleb on the new series while Kaleb did a tour of the UK.
He told The Sun: “It’s a reality show. We don’t just bring characters in because the TV show needs it. You bring them in because you really need them.
“I loved Harriet to bits and I wish her all the very best. She was fantastic to have around. But the truth is, we’ve got Kaleb, and he might go off and do Celebrity Love Island or something, and if I can’t manage, I’ll call Harriet in a heartbeat.”
