A man and his husband who previously appeared on This Morning are thought to have been on board the flight, bound for London’s Gatwick Airport, which went down shortly after take-off
Ex-This Morning boss Martin Frizell has honoured a past guest believed to have perished in today’s tragic Air India crash. The devastating news follows the fatal flight incident.
Fiongal Greenlaw, 39, and his spouse Jamie Meek, 45, are feared to have been passengers on the ill-fated flight destined for London’s Gatwick Airport, which tragically crashed shortly after take-off. The pair were reportedly enjoying a holiday in India. The duo had jointly launched a wellness brand, which had previously featured on This Morning. Martin, 66, who left his role as editor of the ITV programme earlier this year, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram this afternoon.
His post included an image of Fiongal with presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley at the studio. In his caption, Martin reminisced about Fiongal’s “vibrancy” and “sheer enthusiasm” during his appearance on the show in January.
Martin expressed: “So so sad to hear that Fiongal Greenlaw Meek and his partner are reported to be among the passengers and crew killed today on board the Air India flight bound for Gatwick. I remember his visit to the studio in January, he was passionate about auras and although I’m a sceptical sort his vibrancy and sheer enthusiasm won folk over,” reports the Mirror.
He added: “And I know for a fact that he hoped to use his appearance on This Morning to build his Wellness brand, he had a great future ahead of him. Thoughts are with his family and friends and those of his partner Jamie.”
Susanna Reid, the face of Good Morning Britain, is among the celebs who’ve shared support for Martin’s post with a like. TV regular Lisa Snowdon also chimed in with a teary-eyed emoji and a broken heart in the comments.
Fiongal appeared on This Morning back in January, giving hosts Ben and Cat an insightful aura reading while Martin was still at the helm as editor, before he bid farewell to the role in February.
The spiritual guru made a comeback after Martin left, returning for another segment on the show in April, where he joined Ben, Cat, and Josie Gibson in the London studio.
Following his initial appearance, his wellness brand, the Wellness Foundry, shared on Instagram: “So this happened … The biggest gig so far! Fiongal on This Morning – it was very nerve-wracking but he was honoured to chat about one of his favourite topics to such a big audience.”
The Instagram post added: “Thank you to everyone [at] This Morning for being so amazing and guiding me through. Thank you to [Cat and Ben] for being so kind and welcoming.”
Tragically, Fiongal and Jamie are believed to be among the casualties of today’s horrific plane crash. The couple had shared a video from Ahmedabad airport just before they got on the doomed flight.
In the footage, Fiongal is heard saying: “We are at the airport just boarding. Goodbye India. Ten-hour flight back to England. What was your biggest takeaway Jamie?” Jamie’s responded: “I don’t know.”
Fiongal quipped back at his other half: “Thanks for your contribution.”
