The TV host revealed where he had been bitten during a trip to the Caribbean to Paul Hollywood which, in turn, caused the Bake Off host to admit he was worried about an upcoming holiday in St Lucia for the same reason
Telly host Alan Carr has revealed he got a mosquito bite on hols – in the nuts.
He revealed that getting a nip to his nads spoiled his trip to a Caribbean island and said: “I don’t want to be dirty, but I was bitten on the ballbag by a mosquito and it ruined Antigua.”
The Chatty Man star, 48, told of his woes to The Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood on his Life’s a Beach podcast and Paul, 59, admitted he feared holidaying in the region for a planned trip to Saint Lucia because of the beasties.
Paul said: “I’d be worried about mosquitos, I know they have probably have mosquito nets.
“But I’d be a bit worried about the mozzies and getting eaten alive, you know?”
Alan has starred in the baking show’s celebrity spin-off before and made sure to add that his bug bite was abroad and not here.
He added: “I wasn’t bit on the gonads in the Bake Off tent – it was in Antigua.”
The pair also discussed rumoured tactics that are meant to put off the pests.
Alan said: “That’s a load of b******s about the whole gin thing isn’t it as well, because I drink loads of gin. But they still bite you even though, don’t they?
“Garlic is the other one, isn’t it? No, I love garlic and gin and they still bite me.”
It has been claimed that necking gin and tonic raises your quinine levels – something mozzies are said to hate and will make them want to avoid you.
Alan confessed: “I drink a lot of gin to keep the mosquitos away, because it’s meant to be the quinine, it’s meant to keep them away.
“They absolutely love me. I remember one of my legs was poking out of a mosquito net overnight, and when I woke up it was like bubble wrap.
“It’s like I’m the Elephant man. They always get me around the ankle or bone as well.”
