Victoria Beckham took to Instagram to share a sweet video montage to mark Father’s Day, but it seems she may have included a pointed message to her estranged son Brooklyn
Victoria Beckham seems to have thrown some subtle shade at her son Brooklyn on Father’s Day amidst rumours that he’s severed ties with his family, choosing wife Nicola Peltz over them in an ongoing feud.
On Father’s Day, all eyes were on Brooklyn – notably absent from dad David’s 50th birthday bash and silent about his knighthood on social media – to see if he’d acknowledge his father.
Victoria, however, was quick off the mark, posting a throwback video of David and the kids belting out ‘Sherry’ by the Four Seasons, with a beaming David hugging Harper, flanked by Brooklyn and Cruz.
Alongside the nostalgic video, Victoria penned: “Happy Father’s Day to the best daddy there is!” She continued: “You always lead with love and our beautiful children are a reflection of that. We all love you so so much,” she gushed.
She also made a point of tagging all her offspring, a nudge to Brooklyn reminding him he’s not forgotten.
Insiders close to the Beckhams spilled the beans this week, claiming “Brooklyn has told his family he wants no contact and he’s not responding to those that try to connect,” reports the Mirror.
This weekend was a double celebration as Father’s Day coincided with the announcement that David is to be knighted in the King’s Birthday Honours, although it was undoubtedly tinged with sadness due to Brooklyn’s apparent estrangement from the once close-knit family.
David, who was previously appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2003, expressed his gratitude to all his family members as he broke his silence on the news of his knighthood.
While Victoria, Cruz and Romeo all paid tribute to the former England captain and charity ambassador, his eldest son Brooklyn was notably absent from the celebrations.
As the feud seems to continue, fans were shocked to see that Brooklyn has covered up his ‘mama’s boy’ tattoo this month, which was a tribute to his mum.
The affectionate tattoo is now gone and has been replaced by a dedication to his wife Nicola, of which Brooklyn now has over 100.
Brooklyn, 27, first got the tattoo in 2018, but appears to have had a change of heart over the past year, covering his original body art with a bunch of flowers that mirrored his wife Nicola’s bridal bouquet from their 2022 wedding.
Tensions are said to have worsened in recent months – with Brooklyn even avoiding his dad’s 50th birthday celebrations. The ‘feud’ is believed to have started during Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding.
Nicola reportedly ruffled feathers by not wearing a dress designed by Victoria’s team for a big event. Chatting with Grazia USA, Nicola revealed: “We connected to start designing the dress, and then a few days went by, and I didn’t hear anything. Victoria called my mom and said her atelier couldn’t make it.”
She also mentioned that David and Victoria are “great in-laws” but admitted feeling hurt when rumours suggested she “never planned” to wear a Victoria Beckham gown.
In a 2023 Sunday Times interview, Nicola addressed the supposed spat with Victoria, commenting: “No family is perfect.”
The following year saw Romeo dating model Kim Turnbull, who had previously been linked to Brooklyn before his romance with Nicola began. This new relationship reportedly caused tension, with Brooklyn missing out on several family gatherings.
The Beckhams appeared to snub Brooklyn and Nicola by not celebrating their third wedding anniversary publicly. The couple reciprocated by skipping Victoria’s 51st birthday bash and not posting any social media tributes as they had done before.
At David’s extravagant 50th birthday party in London, the entire family attended various festivities, except for Brooklyn and Nicola.
Shortly after, David shared an Instagram story from a fishing trip with Cruz and Romeo, adding the caption: “You were missed @brooklynpeltzbeckham.”
In what’s seen as a major snub to David and Victoria Beckham, Brooklyn seemingly confirmed the whispers by declaring ‘I choose Nicola’ in a telling Instagram post, notably absent from his father’s birthday celebrations.
Capturing a moment with Nicola during a motorbike jaunt in Beverly Hills, Brooklyn gushed on Instagram: “My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you’re the most amazing person i know xx me and you forever baby.”
