Electronic giants Faithless feel like they are starting all over again touring without their figure head Maxi Jazz.

The vocalist passed away in 2022 and now remaining duo of Sister Bliss and Rollo Armstrong are touring in his honour.

Sister Bliss said: “It is a bit like starting again, we are challenging the doubters. I always feel like I’ve something to prove.

“Also what an amazing celebration the Faithless shows are. The shows last year were proof of concept to see how things could be without Maxi, it’s really emotional I really miss him. But we get the most incredible reaction and love from the audience it’s a beautiful show ”.

The Insomnia hitmakers wowed Isle Of Wight Festival on Friday night with Sting accompanied by all new visuals.

Rollo said: “We’re missing Maxi who is huge centre piece so working with new visuals. The screens and lighting is taking us back to a muddy field, it’s very meta cos you are in a muddy field! We didn’t want to do any shows in daylight.”

Faithless are releasing a four part album this summer, Part One Forever Free is out now containing Maxi’s final work.

“It’s the last vocal track he recorded for us when he was actually pretty ill,” recalled Rollo. “We did an album before this one and there was always a hope he would feature on it, we kept pushing it back. He didn’t want people to know how ill he was.”

They only have happy memories of working with Maxi who was a law unto himself when it came to making music.

Rollo laughed: “He was a truly brilliant lyricist. Maxi would arrive and, as you say, arrive Jamaica late. So we end up having to send the taxi to pick him up because otherwise who knows when he would turn up? But even the taxi would be looping about, then he’d arrive and then he’d have to have his Red Stripe, four cans of Red Stripe. He’d have to roll his spliff with liquorice papers and then we’d have to have a good chat.”

Faithless play festivals all summer.
