Peter Crouch has been married to Abbey Clancy for almost a decade and a half, but there is one thing the former England footballer still can’t get his head around
Peter Crouch has revealed that there’s one thing his wife Abbey Clancy does that he finds “so wrong”. The former England footballer and the model began dating in 2005.
They tied the knot in 2011 and now share four children together. But even now, almost two decades on, 44-year-old Peter struggles with some of the regional phrases Liverpool-born Abbey uses.
Specifically, Peter takes issue with Abbey referring to an ice lolly as a “lolly ice”. During their podcast, The Therapy Crouch, Peter stated: “It’s not a lolly iced.
“You know it’s an iced lolly. You wouldn’t say cream iced, it’s the exact same. You’re saying lolly ice but you wouldn’t say cream ice.”
To which Abbey responded: “I don’t know why this riles you up so much.”
Peter retorted: “You’re getting it completely wrong. It’s so wrong. It’s grammatically incorrect.”
Abbey shot back, calling Peter “incorrect”, while their podcast producer, known as Ross, bluntly told him to “f*** off”.
The loved-up couple recently went away together to Ibiza to enjoy a chance to “reconnect” away from their children. However, Abbey revealed Peter “flipped” after she “told him off” for not eating a burger.
She explained: “We only had one argument, where [Abbey’s friend] Lucinda and I told you off for not eating your burger. We got off a boat, ravenous, p*****, and ordered nachos, chicken burgers, cheese burgers, ribs, and Pete’s like….and I’m like, ‘eat your dinner’.
“He’s like, ‘no’. And then Lucinda’s like, ‘You eat like a bird Pete’ and he just flipped.”
Abbey Clancy described the trip as: “We just had the best time, two nights away from the kids, gorgeous food, great company. We didn’t hit one club.”
Peter Crouch added: “We didn’t go to the club but we drank a lot. We made our own party. It was good anyway.”
The couple met while Peter was playing for Liverpool and Abbey was working at a local nightclub. They quickly connected but encountered a minor hiccup early on.
Recalling their meeting on Good Morning Britain, Abbey shared: “When we first met, he begged me for my number and then I went to the loo or the bar, and when I came back, he was talking to another girl. I was like, ‘How dare you?'”.
Peter maintained that he was just chatting with the other girl, but Abbey demanded her number back. He joked: “I said, ‘You can’t give someone your number and then take it back’.”
Despite the initial misunderstanding, their relationship grew stronger and they got married on June 30, 2011. The couple now has four children together: Sophia, Liberty Rose, Johnny, and Jack.
