EastEnders appears to be paving the way Zoe Slater’s full-time return as her stepdad Alfie Moon has flown to Barcelona to see her, lying to new wife Kat in the process
EastEnders’ Alfie Moon has left new bride Kat fuming.
Albert Square lovebirds Alfie and Kat recently tied the knot but it looks like the on-off pair have hit the rocks already. Upcoming scenes show Kat furious when she finds out he’s lied to her about his whereabouts.
And it looks like the BBC soap is paving the way for Zoe Slater’s full-time return to the soap. Zoe star Michelle Ryan has returned to the soap after two decades away, and it looks like we’ll be seeing her soon.
Just days after his third marriage to Kat, Alfie said he was jetting off to Australia to see Spencer. However, it’s not true as viewers know he’s travelled to Barcelona to try and find stepdaughter Zoe, Kat’s daughter, who left Stacey’s London flat following a close run in with her mother.
It looks like Zoe’s return might come sooner rather than later with Alfie trying to track her down. Kat seems to be growing suspicious as she revealed she hadn’t spoken to Alfie, and Spencer was acting strange when she called.
Spoilers for next week reveal Alfie’s lie about Australia is set to be rumbled, reports the Mirror. Stacey Slater returns, but things get awkward as it becomes clear she’s hiding information.
After some grilling, Stacey tries to cover it up and says she’s missing Lily. Kat can’t get hold of Alfie and becomes increasingly frustrated, sharing her upset with a nervous Stacey.
Stacey claims she hasn’t heard from Alfie – but Jean accidentally exposes her when she reveals Stacey spoke to Alfie on the phone in the morning. A fuming Kat once again rings her brother-in-law Spencer to get answers.
It then becomes apparent that Alfie isn’t in Australia after all. Kat heads off to confront Stacey about the huge lie – but will she find out the truth?
Michelle Ryan left EastEnders fans stunned earlier this month when she made her shock return as Zoe Slater after two decades away from Albert Square. Michelle featured in two episodes in Stacey’s flat before heading off to Barcelona – but it’s not the last we’ll see of her.
Zoe will be making a full-time return to the soap, in scenes airing later in the summer. Those who have been keeping an eye on Michelle’s Instagram story will know the star has arrived back on set and has been filming.
We know the soaps film around 6-8 weeks in advance, which means we can expect to see Zoe on screen around that time frame, in late summer.
Not much has been given away about how Zoe’s return will go down, but it’s safe to say she’ll be bumping into her mother Kat Slater at some point. Zoe’s return was new executive producer Ben Wadey’s first episode in charge, as he teased exciting things to come for the character.
He said of the return: “Before I even stepped into the role, Zoe Slater was on my wish-list of returnees as although we haven’t seen her on screen for twenty years, her character has transcended time due to her popular storylines.
“I was absolutely delighted when Michelle agreed to return, and I’m thrilled to welcome her back to Walford. Whilst I can’t say too much at this stage, Zoe’s return is just one of the many exciting storylines we have planned.”
