Jeremy Clarkson has thrown in the towel and decided to give up a major part of his career after admitting the one thing he refuses to do “for as long as he lives”
Jeremy Clarkson has declared he’s “done”.
The former Top Gear host has decided to give up any future entrepreneurial ventures after struggling with his pub business. The TV presenter is finding it challenging to run his pub, The Farmer’s Dog, which he purchased in Asthall back in July 2024.
Despite success with his 1000-acre Diddly Squat Farm and accompanying shop, Jeremy has found the pub business to be a different story. The boozer’s journey is featured in the latest series of Clarkson’s Farm, but Jeremy has admitted he’s not rushing to purchase another one any time soon.
In an interview with The Times, Jeremy stated: “I’m done with business now. I am not starting another business as long as I live. I don’t understand it and am not motivated by money. I just want a good craic.”
The former Top Gear host has been documenting his journey as a pub landlord in his series and revealed the amusing reason behind why he named the pub The Farmer’s Dog. In one episode, Jeremy is seen reading through paperwork related to the pub’s purchase and discovers that the surrounding Oxfordshire area is a popular spot for people to engage in public sex, reports the Mirror.
Jeremy discovered that the pub’s garden area is designated by the council as “a picnic site”. After consulting his lawyer, he was informed that the site had previously been plagued by “unwanted and anti-social behaviour” that “might put you off eating your picnic”.
The lawyer revealed that they had uncovered photographs showing graffiti and other illicit activities.
Clarkson decided to investigate further and found evidence that the behaviour was still ongoing and underwear was being discarded in trees. He mentioned the dogging rumours in a post on his Instagram page, which showed him standing outside the pub holding a stick with a pair of pink knickers hanging from it.
He captioned the post: “Tell me you bought a pub on a dogging site without telling me you bought a pub on a dogging site.”
Elsewhere, the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? presenter recently suffered a serious health scare that required hospitalisation. He underwent surgery after discovering one artery was completely blocked and another nearly blocked, following symptoms of feeling “clammy”, chest tightness and unusual sensations in his arm.
As a result of his health scare, Jeremy has been forced to make significant lifestyle changes which includes regular exercise, reducing his alcohol intake and altering his diet, all of which he joked means he’s “not allowed to have fun anymore”.
