Corrie star Melissa Johns announces pregnancy with first child as she posts cute clip

Coronation Street star Melissa Johns has announced she is pregnant with her first child, revealing the happy news in a sweet social media post with her husband Dan

Coronation Street actress Melissa Johns has joyfully announced she’s expecting her first child in a delightful social media post. The 35-year-old, who portrayed Imogen Pascoe on the soap from 2017 to 2019, couldn’t hide her delight as she broke the news to her online followers.

The actress and disability campaigner shared the news on a beach with her husband, both tenderly holding her growing baby bump. The couple were pictured embracing each other on the sandy beach with the sea behind them, while Melissa looked radiant in a vibrant orange and red floral dress.

Melissa and her husband Dan gave their followers a peek at their baby’s ultrasound scan, along with a pair of booties and a knitted toy. They also shared a mirror with “Baby H-J, 2025…” written on it, capturing themselves posing in the reflection.

In her caption, she wrote: “Oh baby. We made a wish and it came true… Baby H-J – we can’t wait to meet you. Forever grateful.” Her post, which received hundreds of likes, was inundated with congratulatory messages, reports the Mirror.

Melissa Johns spoke candidly about her pregnancy, stating: “We live in a world that still questions whether disabled people deserve love, sex, and family, it’s time to shift that lens.”

The Grantchester actress, who is set to reprise her role as Miss Scott, added: “We rarely see pregnant actors in work, but it’s entirely possible with the right approach, and I want others to know that. It’s exactly the same as the access we’ve been fighting when it comes to disability. It’s about access and adjustments.”

This joyful news comes less than a year after Melissa and her husband Dan tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony. Reflecting on their special day, Melissa said: “I know it sounds really weird, but what I mean is, I just feel absolutely wonderful.

“I just thought it was going to be a wedding day and a party. I didn’t expect to feel such an unbelievable change in myself and my relationship. It’s bizarre to feel like you just fell in love with someone all over again. It’s just wonderful.”

Their picturesque ceremony took place at the 14th-century Brinsop Court Manor House and Barn on 11 October, a day Melissa described as “perfect”. She looked stunning in a strapless fishtail gown with a fitted corset and bead embellishments, while Dan, a transport planning consultant, wore a stylish three-piece tweed suit and paisley tie.

Melissa, who was born missing half of her right arm, spoke about the deep meaning behind saying “I Do”. “Because of having one arm and looking very different to other people growing up, when I was young, I wasn’t necessarily sure getting married was something that would happen for me,” Melissa shared.

“People do comment on it and question whether you’ll find love or get married, simply because of the way you look or because you’re disabled. So, because of the way I grew up, our special day meant a million times more to me.”
