Oasis’ Liam Gallagher apologises for ‘racist slur’ tweet just days before tour begins

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has issued an apology to fans after he recently made a “racist slur” months ahead of the band’s scheduled performance in Asia

Liam Gallagher has apologised to fans after he was accused of posting an offensive message on social media.

The Oasis rocker is facing criticism after posting a “racially offensive” tweet on X/Twitter months before the band is scheduled to play in Seoul.

Earlier on Tuesday, Liam tweeted the words: “chingchong”, a phrase that has been used to criticise the Asian language.

He reportedly deleted the post quickly after sharing it, but fans had already screenshotted the tweet, and pictures began to appear online.

Outrage quickly ensued, and one person wrote: “If you look down on Asians so much, you should open a refund channel for Asians who bought tickets for performances.”

Another said: “As much as I love Liam Gallagher, his comments today were insensitive, I’m so sorry that Asian fans had to read that and feel offended, there’s no way defending him, Liam is a 52-year-old idiot, not a kid.”

Liam later took to X/Twitter to apologise and wrote: “Sorry if I offended anyone with my tweet before it wasn’t intentional you know I love you all and I do not discriminate. peace and love LG x”

Someone replied saying: “Be careful from now on please, words can hurt even if not intended to be hurtful”.

Liam’s post came months before Oasis are set to appear in Seoul as part of their reunion tour.

The news comes shortly after Liam accidentally leaked details of the first Oasis reunion gig before quickly deleting the evidence.

Liam tweeted: “Oasis on stage 8.15pm Cardiff, don’t be late or we’ll start without you and you don’t want that now do ya see ya there LG x,” but it was shortly removed from X/Twitter.

Photos of the band exiting rehearsals held in London emerged back in May, which showed Noel Gallagher, Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, Gem Archer and Andy Bell at the venue.

Liam, who was initially resting his vocals, joined the band on June 3.
