Gregg Wallace was rushed to hospital after suffering intense chest pains, sparking fears of a “heart attack” on Sunday. The Sun reported that the former MasterChef host sought help at A&E in Ashford, Kent, after enduring two days of discomfort.

Rumours are swirling that Wallace is considering legal action against the BBC following the end of his television career. It comes as 50 more people have approached the BBC with fresh claims about the TV presenter – including allegations he groped one MasterChef worker and pulled his trousers down in front of another. Wallace denies the claims.

He reportedly confided in a friend: “The stress of this betrayal brought on my suspected heart attack. It’s been hell.”

Insiders claim he was told his MasterChef contract had been axed just two days after his hospital discharge.

However, the BBC has clarified that Wallace was “not sacked”, as they were never his employer.

This news comes after a statement from Wallace on Tuesday, July 8, in response to a thorough nine-month investigation into misconduct allegations. The probe, ordered by production company Banijay and carried out by external law firm Lewis Silkin, delved into various claims against the TV star.

Wallace insists he’s been cleared of the most serious charges, including those related to inappropriate touching. The full report isn’t due until Thursday, and the BBC stated: “Banijay UK instructed the law firm Lewis Silkin to run an investigation into allegations against Gregg Wallace. We are not going to comment until the investigation is complete and the findings are published.”

Banijay UK has not commented regarding Wallace’s comments, leaving the outcome of the report up in the air.

It has now been suggested that Wallace has enlisted the services of “rottweiler” solicitor Dan Morrison to take on the national broadcaster.

A source told the aforementioned publication: “This is war. Gregg will not go quietly-it is an absolute nightmare for the BBC.”

Today, Wallace took to Instagram to share a statement, asserting: “I have taken the decision to speak out ahead of the publication of the Silkins report-a decision I do not take lightly. But after 21 years of loyal service to the BBC, I cannot sit in silence while my reputation is further damaged to protect others. I have now been cleared by the Silkins report of the most serious and sensational accusations made against me.

“The most damaging claims (including allegations from public figures which have not been upheld) were found to be baseless after a full and forensic six-month investigation.”
