Liam Gallagher immortalised in the one word he loves to say – lasagna

Oasis are back in Manchester and what better way to celebrate than with lasagna, strawberries and cream from one of the songs that really made them famous

Asda Pilsworth unveils a 2ft lasagna in Liam Gallagher’s image

Is this Liam in a lasagne? Definitely. Well, maybe. Supermarket Asda cooked up a portrait to pay homage to the band’s cult song Digsy’s Dinner, which famously name checks lasagna, strawberries and cream.

So popular are the lyrics in the song, that Liam often posts the word ‘lasagne’ to his 15 million social media followers.

Crafted with 1kg of lasagna sheets, layered with rich, creamy white sauce, and crowned with 900g of mature cheddar and parmesan, the 2ft wide culinary creation was launched ahead of the band’s five shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park, starting on Friday.

Bringing Liam’s love of lasagna to shoppers, Asda is dishing up an exclusive Digsy’s Dinner Deal at its Pilsworth café in Manchester.

Running from 11-13 July, customers and concert goers who purchase a hearty serving of lasagna from the in store café will receive a free portion of strawberries and cream.

An Asda spokesperson said: ” Oasis mania is well and truly building ahead of the weekend gigs here in their hometown, so we wanted to create something truly memorable to mark this iconic moment.

“The giant Liam lasagna has been pulling in crowds, and fans are rolling with it to dig into our great value lasanga, strawberries and cream dinner deal.

“Whether enjoying it at our Pilsworth café or in the comfort of your own home, it’s a fun and flavoursome way to celebrate one of Oasis’s most unexpected hits.”

Oasis will perform at Heaton Park, Manchester, from 11 to 20 July, making ASDA Pilsworth the perfect pre-show pit stop, while stock lasts.

It comes as Liam has confirmed what many music fans have long suspected – that he and his brother Noel Gallagher are polar opposites.

Despite their well-known feuds, the brothers appear to have made peace for the Oasis reunion tour.

However, Liam, 52, insists they remain fundamentally different. He even agrees with Noel’s comparison from the 2016 documentary Supersonic, where Noel likened himself to a cat and Liam to a dog.

“Without a doubt,” Liam concurs in an interview included in the new book A Sound So Very Loud. “He’s arrogant, sticks his a*** up, comes and goes as he pleases… loves being stroked. Total tart. Loves you when he wants. I only get took out on a lead.”

In the documentary, Noel, 58, admitted: “I’m a cat. That’s just what I am. I’ve accepted it. I’m a bit of a b*******.”
